Sony reveals the story trailer for upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 featuring the fan-favorite villain, Venom

During the recent PlayStation showcase, Sony revealed a lot of ambitious upcoming game projects. This included loads of new games that the fans loved. However, the game that fans are waiting for the most is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. During the showcase, Sony revealed the upcoming game’s gameplay trailer, which gave fans a glimpse of what’s coming. Now at the SDCC, Sony has dropped the new story trailer, which has told fans that their favorite villain, Venom, will also be in the game.

Sony released Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018 as a PlayStation exclusive. Furthermore, Sony followed the game by releasing Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, again as a PlayStation exclusive. However, the games made their way to the PC port in 2022, and the popularity of the game blew up. As fans were eagerly waiting for a second part to release soon, the gameplay reveals trailer for Spider-Man 2 blew everyone’s minds away. The trailer featured some original & loved Spider-man villains, from Kraven the Hunter to The Lizzard.

Peter Parker, the protagonist of the series, appeared in the cult classic, Venom-symbiote suit. This further solidified the game’s strong base. However, fans were unsure whether Insomniac Games, the devs behind Marvel’s Spider-Man, would add Venom as a villain. But the recent story trailer reveal for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has clarified these doubts for fans!

Spider-Man 2’s Story Trailer reveal

The recent story trailer for Spider-Man 2 is a plethora of mixed reactions, but all positive. From joy to goosebumps to sheer nostalgia, the trailer has it all. When the gameplay trailer was released, fans saw Kraven the Hunter & The Lizzard making their way into the series. These are some of the most loved original Spider-man villains, along with Rhino and Doc Ock. However, fans only saw Peter Parker wearing the Venom suit and no signs of Venom, the symbiote, as a potential villain in the series.

However, the new story trailer has given a close reveal of Venom also being a major villain in this game. Many characters from the previous titles are returning to the game, including Martin Li and Miles Morales, who’ll be another protagonist of this title, along with Peter. Moreover, the trailer features another important character, who’s making an entry in the series for the first time, Harry Osborn. In the previous title, we could only hear his voice when exploring the map as voice mails or calls, but he’ll now be coming in the game too.

The overall story trailer for Spider-Man 2 features a rather dark setting, with Peter’s mind hinted at slowly being taken over by Venom. The game is expected to hit stores on October 20, 2023, as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. And it deserves a spot at the Game of the Year Awards 2023. Fans are eagerly waiting for the game to drop, and the trailer shows gamers nothing less of a masterpiece in tow.
