Minecraft Live is back in 2023 and promises to be bigger than ever! If you have never watched the annual & interactive livestream by Mojang Studios, the developers of Minecraft, then you are in for a treat. Mojang has promised this year’s stream will be bigger than ever. The stream will be filled with discussions on Minecraft, news related to the game, and sneak peeks of features coming in the future.

Minecon (also written as MineCon or MINECON) was an annual interactive fan convention made for lovers of the popular gaming sensation Minecraft. The convention featured many activities for all ages, such as panels & discussions with Minecraft developers, building contests, interactions with YouTubers & influencers, merch booths and much more. MineCon was rebranded to Minecraft Live in 2020 after the pandemic.

The Mob Vote

After Minecraft Live replaced MineCon, Mojang wanted to keep the same spirit of interactivity as the in-person event. The last MineCon held in person was MineCon 2016 in Anaheim, with over 12,000 attendees present for the event. To continue their goal of interacting with the community, the new event has also featured a section called the “Mob Vote”.

Mojang releases trailers for three new mob ideas that they have been working on. The wonderful Minecraft community gets together and votes on their favourite. The mob that gets the most votes is then added to the game in future updates. Last year’s winner was The Sniffer, an ancient extinct mob added to the game after the last Minecraft Live. This time, the choices are among the armadillo, the penguin, and the crab. You can vote within Minecraft Bedrock.

What else to expect?

Mojang has not announced much about the livestream yet. The only official announcement made is regarding the mob vote. The community can expect more announcements as we head closer to the commencement of Minecraft Live. It is almost guaranteed that we see some panels & discussions with the developers of the game and their thought processes. Fans can also expect some teasers and information about future updates coming to the game.
