4 times NBA Champion LeBron James was unveiled as the latest member of the of the professional North American esports organization Cloud 9s Valorant team on March 23rd. But fast forward a day, C9’s official Twitter handle read that the basketball star aptly named KING JAMES was let go by the org.

The announcement, met with surprise by the Valorant community as they quickly took the net to express their thoughts. Some even comparing it to an April fool’s joke. LeBron James is one of basketball’s most loved child and often compared to Michael Jordan himself. LeBron’s inclusion into C9 Valorant team came as a surprise. His sudden departure has fans comparing it to the recent roster changes. After the release of Jaccob ‘yay’ Whiteaker one of the game’s best players, this move seems to follow the same trajectory.

C9 Valorant part ways with Lakers star LeBron James

A record 13 times inclusion in ALL NBA FIRST TEAM, LeBron James holds numerous records to his name. The LA LAKERS star is the youngest ever player to reach 20,000 points in NBA history. He surpassed even Michael Jordan for scoring most NBA playoff points. He also featured in NBA all-defensive team of the year and securing the runner up spot twice.

LeBron James’s inclusion in C9 Valorant team for VCT Americas was certainly an exacting prospect. But it came to an abrupt end. As they gear up for the tournament the roster is short of two players. After YAY’s departure Cloud 9’s reliable controller expert Anthony ” vanity ” Malaspina also left the org. This pattern of players leaving has certainly generated some meme worthy comments. Some even claiming it as an issue of roles in the roster, hinting at the latest problems of finding an IGL (in game leader).

The James family is no stranger to gaming, LeBron’s oldest son Bronny James joined Faze clan. He mainly streams Call of Duty and Fortnite content under the name “Faze Bronny.”

Cloud9 as an organization has seen ups and downs over the years. Created in 2013, they are mostly known for their win in ELEAGUE MAJOR Boston 2018 in CSGO, beating Faze clan. Apart from CSGO they have also fielded teams in League of legends, Valorant and Hearthstone to name a few. C9 valorant roster began with an all-South Korean line up with their North American counterpart. The Current Valorant roster consists of Nathan “leaf” Orf, Erick “Xeppaa” Bach and Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro. As VCT America regular season is round the corner the team needs at least two more players compete in the tournament.
