NVIDIA driver update fuels CS: GO 2 speculations
It might not be too long till players are able to play Dust 2 in CS: GO 2.
CS: GO has been in the market for more than a decade. Many shooter games have been released since then, however, CS: GO has managed to relevant. CS: GO is still a very popular and fiercely contested esports game. This leads to a different conclusion because the player base has long craved a better installment of the game. Many players have argued that devs should update the graphics of this game as visuals feel underwhelming in comparison to the graphics of games like Valorant and Overwatch. It was earlier speculated that Valve might port CS: GO to CS: GO 2.
However, there was no official announcement regarding this subject. Following a period of silence, it appears that the rumors have resumed as fresh information regarding the potential port to the new Source engine has surfaced once more. This time as a result of a new update for the NVIDIA driver. The entire community is in a frenzy as a result of a new executable file posing as Counter-Strike 2.

Nvidia’s most recent driver game profile displays the executable for CS: GO 2
A Reddit user u/DAOWAce highlighted noticed on March 1 that new game profiles with the names “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe” had been introduced in NVIDIA’s most recent driver release. It was later highlighted as an insider Aquarius.
The list will also include “counterstrikeonline2.exe” and “cs02launcher.exe” in addition to the two obvious Counter-Strike 2 game profiles. These different profiles under the same feature hint that CS: GO 2 release isn’t to far.
When Nvidia updated its driver in February 2023, the new game profile reportedly made its way into the scripts. You can check this by yourself in the game profile from the NVIDIA Control Panel. However, because the Nvidia drivers only display the profiles of installed applications, it cannot be found directly on the system.
Given that CS: GO now has an astounding amount of players from all over the world, it will be fascinating to learn more about this “Counter-Strike 2” game and to watch where the series goes from here. For what it’s worth, neither Nvidia nor Valve have addressed this.
