PlayStation Showcase 2023: All big game reveals, gameplay trailers, release dates and more

The showcase featured many game sequels and reboots with a few newer titles as well.

Every event in the video games industry is a huge deal for gamers. These events are the best way to attain information regarding upcoming game releases, new consoles, etc. Gamers wait for such events throughout the year. Amongst all these big events, the PlayStation Showcase holds a separate fan base. The PlayStation 2023 Showcase was a major event for gamers. It showcased a variety of upcoming games for the PlayStation 5. Some of the reveal trailers left gamers baffled.

The PlayStation Showcase 2023 was spectacular. The recent PlayStation Showcase featured many AAA-rated titles. Some of the biggest announcements included the reveal of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, gameplay for Spider-Man 2, a first proper look at Dragon’s Dogma 2, and a release date for Alan Wake 2. There were many more such explosive reveals. This time around, the PlayStation Showcase 2023 has left a really good impression on gamers.

This event included newer titles too, but most of the featured were sequels or remakes. Not that anyone’s complaining! Spider-Man 2

Insomniac Studios’ Spider-Man & Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been a fan-favorite since it came out. And the hype has increased furthermore with the reveal of the trailer for the combined sequel of both of these games. This sequel has been titled Spider-Man 2 and includes a brand new story with a lot of newly added characters.

The trailer showcases some of the most popular Spider-Man characters like Kraven The Hunter, Dr. Connors, a.k.a the Lizard, and the character fans were eagerly waiting for to make an entry into the series, Venom. The gameplay reveal was really good, and gamers expect another masterpiece from Insomniac Studios.

METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER

One of the masterpieces developed by Konami, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is getting a reboot. The series hasn’t launched an AAA title since the release of Metal Gear Solid 5, so it’s about time. The gameplay trailer was exceptionally good. The studio has intensively worked on the game environment, adding realism and details to the world.

The reboot of one of the fan-favorite series has come as a delight to gamers, and using the PlayStation Showcase 2023 as the stage for the reveal has solidified the hype of this game much further.

ASSASSIN’S CREED MIRAGE

The upcoming newest addition to the most acclaimed stealth and assassin’s game would be Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This game, like its predecessors, relies on and utilizes the parkour mechanics heavily, as shown in the reveal trailer. Set in Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age. The game will follow Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character first introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and his transition from street thief to a fully-fledged member of the Assassin Brotherhood.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 REMAKE VR

One of the best horror story games out there is getting a VR version. Yes, Resident Evil 4 is coming to the PSVR 2, following the massive success of the VR set. Gamers strap in for one hell of a ride. Or Evil. With fully immersive gameplay, it’s the stuff of nightmares.

DRAGON’S DOGMA 2

Having been in development hell for ages now, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is finally making its way to gamers. One of the best classic hack-and-slash RPGs, Dragon Dogma, is a spectacular game. The upcoming game has been anticipated by fans for years now. And it looks good, with the new and improved combat system. Also, what’s the best way to feature the sequel of such a nostalgic game other than the PlayStation Showcase 2023? Gamers are very excited for this upcoming game.

ALAN WAKE 2

Another fan-favorite horror game is getting a sequel. And it’s going to get much more horrifying with next-gen graphics. A sequel to Alan Wake, Alan Wake 2 is set 13 years after the events of the first game and follows Alan Wake as he tries to escape from an alternate dimension known as the Dark Place. The creative director of Remedy Entertainment, Sam Lake, has said that Alan Wake 2 will be a darker and more personal story than the first game.

FINAL FANTASY 16

RPG fans all around love the Final Fantasy series. From what used to be a turned base JRPG to an action-adventure RPG, the Final Fantasy series has seen immense growth in the gaming industry. Moreover, the new main installment in the series, Final Fantasy 16, will be another fan-favorite game. The game will feature segmented open environments and an action-based combat system involving both melee and magic-based attacks. Also, this game would be a timed exclusive for PlayStation 5.

PHANTOM BLADE 0

This game came out of nowhere. From the trailers, this game seemingly looks like a mix of Elden Ring, Sekiro, and Bloodborne. And this makes it an obvious Souls-like game. The trailer has hyped gamers with the unexpected entry of such a visually pleasing game. Moreover, Souls-like games have been all the craze for a few years now, so revealing the trailer of Phantom Blade 0 on the PlayStation Showcase 2023 is indeed the best move.

GHOST RUNNER 2

One of the best parkour combat games filled with difficulty and impressive game mechanics is getting a sequel. The first Ghostrunner was loved by gamers due to its unique and immersive combat system. Ghostrunner 2 was in development for quite some time and it’s finally been revealed on the PlayStation Showcase 2023. Gamers have rejoiced for this upcoming installment.

Apart from these titles, there were other trailer reveals. Some of these titles are Marathon: a PvP shooter, Foamstars: a PvP game with unique game mechanics, Sword of the Sea: a beautiful surfing game; & Immortals of Aveum: an intergalactic Star Wars-type story game with impressive graphics and class system. All these reveals made the PlayStation Showcase 2023 one of the most successful PlayStation Showcases ever.
