Throughout the whole off-season, teams like Sentinels, 100 Thieves, and others have often modified their rosters for the upcoming VCT 2024. The Valorant eSports scene has received a lot of traction recently, with a successful VCT 2023 season. Moreover, the last VCT season was a box full of surprises, expected events & dramas. Fans really enjoyed every moment of VCT 2023, and now it’s time for VCT 2024 to start. With the global event taking place every year, fans are now eagerly waiting for VCT 2024 to start. Furthermore, this time, Riot Games is bringing over some new changes to the existing VCT format, starting with the 2024 season!

Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2024 New Format: Champion Points, Kickoff stage, & more

In February, the Valorant Champions Tour 2024, a.k.a VCT 2024, will kick off; however, Riot Games is bringing some changes to the VCT formula this time. Furthermore, these are some major changes that can change how teams land in various stages of the tournament! The International Leagues will have three events in the Americas, EMEA, Pacific, and China regions. In addition, there will be three worldwide tournaments during the tour. Which teams compete in these international tournaments will be decided by a novel idea known as Championship Points.

Overall, this new format for VCT 2024 is really thorough and diverse, and the new video that Riot Games released on their VCT’s YouTube channel gives an in-depth analysis of what this new format has! Fans are really dying to see how the event plays out this year. Furthermore, with the full-fledged inclusion of China in VCT, the completion has gotten really tough.

Format explained:

All four regions in the VCT 2024 will have a kick-off tournament. Moreover, the format for all these kick-off tournament stages will be the same for all the regions. This gives equality to all the regions in VCT, and through this, deserving teams from different regions will get the chance to face each other. This season will also have two Masters: Masters Madrid & Masters Shanghai.

The group stage of each Kickoff will begin with the seeding of all eleven teams into three groups. There will be four teams in each of the two groups and three teams in the other. The top team of the respective region, which will be decided by the team that places highest at Champions 2023, will play in a group of three and get an automatic ticket to the group’s second round. All matches in the double-elimination tournament will be Bo3s, with each group competing against the other. Each group’s top three teams advance straight to the Stage 3 Playoffs.

The next three teams in the standings will advance to the Stage 2 Play-Ins. The three teams in second place will play each other in a round-robin format during the Stage 2 Play-Ins, with only one team advancing to the playoffs. The four surviving teams will play in a single-elimination bracket during the Playoffs Stage, with the two winners earning berths at Masters Madrid. To prevent repeat B03s, the team from the play-in stage will be positioned opposite the bracket winner from their group. This will be the format for the VCT 2024 season!

Champions Points Explained:

In order to reward teams for putting on excellent performances in each and every game they play, championship points are meant to make every game matter. At the end of every stage, these points will determine which 11 teams from each region advance to Champions 2024. Teams will receive one point for each victory in the two International League stages. The victor of every league will also receive three bonus points.

Additionally, the winning team from each regional Kickoff event will receive three points. In addition, the winners of Masters Shanghai and Masters Madrid will each get three points. The team with the most points from each International League will get an east ticket to the Valorant Champions 2024 main event.

With Riot Games tweaking the existing format for VCT 2023 last year through Ascension, another tournament that got teams like Bleed Esports into VCT 2024, this year will see a fierce matchup between many strong teams and many teams with a revamped roster.

Over this entire VCT off-season, fans saw Orgs like Sentinels, KRU Esports, Leviatán, and other teams totally revamping their rosters. Many Orgs have strapped themselves in for the upcoming VCT 2024 season with a formidable roster. This VCT can have a lot of expected events that will definitely have fans going wild.
