Saints Row was a popular franchise that mimicked the gameplay of the GTA series. It was created by Deep Silver Volition and remained one of the most popular video game franchises for a long time.

The game was successful until 2022, when the Saints Row 2022 Reboot was released. Fans were beyond excited about the reboot of the Saints Row games and what the developers could do with the latest technology.

However, fans were soon very disappointed. The game ended up being a mess that failed to capture the essence of what made the series so beloved. The cast of characters was forgettable and poorly written. The writing of the game was sub-par, the dialogues were atrocious, and the game had terrible design and mechanics.

The mess was supposedly caused by internal design clashes and story overhauls. Heavy publisher interference also demanded a new vision for the game. Deep Silver Volition tried its best to implement new patches and fix the game to a certain degree. However, it was to no avail. It is still one of the most disappointing video games of all time.

The parent company dissolved the studio earlier this year. The IP now belongs to Plaion, who has not yet revealed any new plans for the series. However, nearly two years after the game’s release, fans have gotten information that the game was initially headed in a completely new direction, on the same lines as what fans wanted to see in the game.

Saints Row 2022 Reboot was set to give fans what they wanted

An insider named Mrsaintsgodzilla21 recently made a Reddit post that revealed the original direction for the game. The Saints Row 2022 Reboot was supposed to take the game back to its roots. It was supposed to be a throwback to the series’ classic games. The game was supposed to be similar to Saints Row 2, but some aspects of the third game were thrown into the mix.

It was also supposed to bring back original characters such as Johnny Gat, Shaundi, Dex, Aisha, and Pierce. There was even supposed to be a mission where players could finally properly kill Dex.

This did not happen due to the abovementioned reasons and Deep Silver Volition’s dissatisfaction with the game’s direction. Fans are now left wondering what could have been if they had stuck to their original direction for the Saints Row 2022 reboot.
