During the VCT Americas LCQ, Sentinels and 100 Thieves had a thrilling match. TenZ from Sentinels and Asuna from 100 Thieves made a surprising Agent choice. They used Yoru, a rarely-used Duelist, on the Bind map, creating excitement. These unexpected choices made the competition even more thrilling and intense. For the record, Yoru was the only agent who wasn’t got picked during VCT Master Tokyo 2023.

Before the match, both teams excited fans with videos and social media posts. They also engaged in live streams to discuss the game. Players like FNS and Jaccob ‘yay’ Whiteaker hinted that the team that loses might make changes to their roster for the next season in 2024. This talk made people even more excited for the big game.

The Unexpected Yoru Pick by Tenz and Asuna

Sentinels and 100 Thieves were 1-1 after in the series and fans were expecting something unorthodox to get the upper hand. 100 Thieves decided to use Chamber, a character that he use on the Split map too. However, the most surprising thing was when both teams chose Yoru as their Duelist for the third map, Bind. Yoru had been noticeably missing in the recent VCT Masters Tokyo tournament, and no team in the VCT Americas region had picked Yoru during the regular season or playoffs.

Both Sen TenZ and 100T Asuna showed that they believed in Yoru’s abilities by including the character in their game plans. The situation was intense. The losing team would be kicked out for this VCT Season. This unexpected choice made the gameplay more exciting and kept the audience excited.

Fans who have been following Tyson know how much he loves Yoru, however, he only used this Japanese agent in Ranked games. But Asuna also going in for Yoru was completely unexpected. Yoru’s presence on the Bind map was a big deal for VCT Americas because no other team in the region had tried using this character before. For 100 Thieves, it was Asuna who played as Yoru, showing how flexible and adaptable he is as a player.

In the post-match interview, Analyst Wyatt asked Zekken about this incident, He said,

” I mean, Tyson is the biggest Yoru believer in the world. When we saw that they were playing Yoru, I typed in all chat, we’re gonna break viewership records. And, uh, I thought, I just thought it was funny. I knew the game was gonna be done after that. But yeah, it was fun to see. I like seeing variety of people play the same stuff a lot. So it was cool to play against.

The match between Sentinels and 100 Thieves showed that both teams are committed to trying new things and finding new strategies. The unexpected addition of Yoru made the competition more exciting and got fans loved to see what happened next. Even though 100T lost the match, the match entertained everybody. Now Sentinels will battle against mighty Cloud 9 in VCT Americas LCQ to keep their hopes for VCT Champions 2023 alive.
