Sony PlayStation is one of the major gaming platforms and even after 2 years of the release of the PlayStation 5 the console is out of stock. There have been several leaks that talk about the next-in-line PlayStation console but none were as solid as this document’s statement.

“Microsoft has offered to continue making Activision’s games available on PlayStation only until 2027… By the time SIE launched the next generation of its PlayStation console (which is likely to occur around [redacted]), it would have lost access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles, making it extremely vulnerable to consumer switching and subsequent degradation in its competitiveness,” reads PlayStation’s argument.

“Even assuming that SIE had the ability and resources to develop a similarly successful franchise to Call of Duty, it would take many, many years and billions of dollars to create a challenger to Call of Duty – and the example of EA’s Battlefield shows that any such efforts would more than likely be unsuccessful.” Sony here refers to Microsoft’s Deal to buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 Million. The European Commission has launched an investigation into Microsoft’s potential takeover because it could harm competition. Sony released this document in this case and a line in this document hints that the PlayStation 6 will be released in 2028.

Sony is trying its level best to block the deal as the organization strictly opposes Microsoft taking control of Activision. Microsoft even made Sony an offer to keep Call of Duty on their consoles for the next 10 years and Sony has yet not commented on that.

Playstation 6 Expected Price, Release Date, Specs, and Other Details

The PS6 will be releasing sometime in 2028 as the document reveals. However, players might see an earlier release of the PS5 Pro in 2024. This gives the PS5 the predictable and expected lifecycle of 7 long years.

The expected price for the PS5 Pro should be around $550 and for the PS6 it should be $600. However, fans must keep in mind that these prices are assumptions, as no official details regarding the console’s price have been released yet.
