Ubisoft has given Star Wars fans a first look at the first-ever open-world Star Wars game, Star Wars Outlaws. It was revealed in the Xbox Showcase recently. It was first teased way back in 2021 and hyped up fans very much. 3 years later, fans finally have what they are going to have. The game is being developed by Massive Entertainment.

The recently released EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has got much praise for its lightsaber action and mechanics. It was a big W for the fans but it seems like they will be getting a new meal the very next year. The new cinematic trailer for Star Wars Outlaws looks very promising and features a whole new narrative.

Most of the Star Wars media features the age-long fight between the Sith and Jedi. However, like some new recent series like The Mandalorian, Andor, and The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars Outlaws moves away from the Sith Vs. Jedi narrative features the world of smugglers and syndicates—basically, the Outlaws.

According to the description, the game is set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The description says,

“Experience the first-ever open-world Star WarsTM game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix, Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.”

The trailer revealed that players will take on the role of a female protagonist, Kay Vess. She can be seen playing a game of cards with other supposed smugglers in the bar, where some syndicates arrive in search of her. It results in a great chase sequence, followed by her introducing her friend Jalen. The trailer also features the Pyke syndicate, which was the main antagonist in The Book of Boba Fett. It also shows Kay traveling to other systems along with her cute pet. Players also get to see a Rancor.

The cinematic trailer doesn’t give a whole lot of information about the gameplay features. However, It is great that Star Wars gaming media is also trying something new rather than just Lightsaber fights, which by the way will never be not cool. If Star Wars Outlaws will have space fights like the trailer then it will be very awesome. Ubisoft will surely reveal a few more things about the game, so fans have to wait for what Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are cooking for the first-ever open-world game coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2024.
