Paper Rex is inarguably one of the strongest valiant teams in the world at the moment. After placing second in the Valorant Champions Tour last season, the organization is coming off hot, losing out closely to the eventual world champions, Evil Geniuses.
Teams worldwide are fighting to qualify for the Valorant Masters event in Madrid. However, they must first compete in the regional leagues VCT Pacific, VCT Americas, VCT China, etc.
Due to Riot Games including four franchised leagues in 2024, each region will only get two slots in the upcoming VCT Masters in Madrid. Hence, the eleven teams in VCT Pacific 2024 have given their all to earn a spot in Madrid.
Paper Rex is battling it out in the VCT Pacific region alongside other teams such as T1 and Global eSports. The team has a lot of momentum after becoming the runner-up at the Afreeca Valorant League tournament and is the clear favorite from the VCT Pacific region.
Paper Rex beat T1 in VCT Pacific Kickoff to qualify for VCT Masters Madrid
Paper Rex started their VCT 2024 season against GenG, coming out with a close 2-1 victory for the VCT World Championship runner-ups. This victory qualified them to play against T1 in the VCT Pacific Kickoff. The winner of T1 vs Paper Rex was for a spot in the Valorant Masters Madrid tournament of this season.
The match began on the Split map, resulting in a highly back-and-forth contest between the two teams. Paper Rex picked up some momentum by winning eight rounds in a row. Despite a few consecutive defuses by T1, Paper Rex eventually took game 1 in the best-of-3 series, 16-14.
Paper Rex’s momentum did not slow down the rest of the series. The organization barely gave T1 any chance to come back in the second game on Ascent. They won the second game in a dominating fashion and won the series in a clean sweep, 2-0, earning them a spot in VCT Masters Madrid.
