Valorant Harbor’s Cascade to have 2 charges, gets fans excited about patch 5.10

Harbor

Valorant‘s newest agent Varun Batra has been in the game for quite some time now codenamed Harbor, and fans are left with mixed reviews after a hands-on experience with him. This is because although Harbor appears well equipped as a controller to smoke off larger sites, his site entry ability is limited to the angles of his Cascade pushing, implying that one charge of that ability, if used during site entry cannot be used to retake a different site, severely underpowering him.

Cascade is a pretty basic ability that creates a wave of water that moves ahead or can be stopped by the controlling Harbor. This can be used to create site retake plays but moving behind the wave to take on aggressive peaks before retreating to safety.

Additionally, opponents hit by this wave are slowed, giving Harbor a greater edge. However, the developers have announced that to derive the maximum benefit out of Harbor’s kit, he will receive two charges for that ability instead of previously receiving only one.

Fans have been excited about this new change, especially since this will level up Harbor’s playing field to match the other controllers like Viper and Omen, with an ability to push into the site or hold a site depending on the number of charges left. This can also mean that Harbor might end up replacing Viper on bigger maps such as breach or Haven since his ability allows smoking off multiple choke points, and will now further allow covering areas and entry frag onto sites.

Valorant Patch 5.10 to makes changes in Cypher and Fade’s kits

Valorant Patch 5.10

Cypher has long been overdue to receive some buffs since he has almost no pick rate and the developers need that to change. Players are choosing to play with a Sage, Killjoy, and the meta king Chamber, rather than running a Cypher, which is essential for slowing down the tempo of the game. Therefore the developers have promised the following changes:

  • Trapwire Maximum Trapwire length increased 1000 >>> 1500
  • Ultimate will reveal the location of all living enemy players twice with a 4-second delay between each ping.
  • Tripwire Length has increased from 1000 to 1500 –
  • Abilities cannot get destroyed by Alles’ AOE

However, simply buffing Cypher’s kit is not going to miraculously increase his pick rate. Therefore to balance it out, the developers have proposed the following nerf to Fade:

  • Prowler’s Duration has been reduced from 3s to 2.5s
  • Prowler’s Nearsight duration reduced from 3.5 to 2.75 seconds.
  • Delay on the Prowler’s Bite has been increased from .4s >>> .6s.
  • Ultimate increased from 7 Points to 8 Points.

Overall, it appears that Cypher and Fade are in for some drastic changes, while Harbor is set for a fairly minute buff that might change how these agents are run. It will be interesting to find out how these changes shape up the competitive meta once these go live in Patch 5.10.
