Riot Games has had huge success with its first FPS shooter, Valorant. The game has created a sizable player base after three years of its launch. The major success of Valorant is due to the game’s immersive experience and unique mechanics. Furthermore, the developers continuously strive to make the game better and more fun for the player base. The amount of new content that comes to Valorant is huge. This includes new cosmetics, maps, and especially new agents. The latest upcoming entry to Valorant is going to be an agent named Deadlock.
During the recent Dev Dairies, devs revealed that the game would be getting its new agent soon. New agents coming to the game are always a much-celebrated event for the player base. Furthermore, the game developers released Gecko, the latest agent to join the in-game roster, in March. So, after three months, the game is hyping up the player base by revealing a new agent. And after many teasers and hints, we finally have an official reveal.
Riot Games has revealed the official gameplay for the new agent, Deadlock. Undoubtedly, a wave of excitement and anticipation for the official release has struck the players. So without any further ado, let’s dive into it!

New Agent Deadlock: Role
The new entry to the already big Valorant’s agent roster is going to be Deadlock. This agent is said to be from Norway. Furthermore, Deadlock will assume the role of a sentinel, just like Chamber, Killjoy, Sage & Cypher. She will finally expand the long-stagnant sentinel role club. This agent has been especially lashed with abilities that hinder player movement and will be a pain to deal with. Let’s get into the details of her abilities.
New Agent Deadlock: Abilities
Similar to other agents in Valorant, Deadlock has four abilities. One is her standard abilities, while two being her purchasable abilities, and lastly, her ultimate ability that charges by either getting kills, Spike plants/defuses, or dying during a round. Let’s see what her abilities are in dept:
Barrier Mesh [E]: This is Deadlock’s signature ability. Players can equip it and aim to throw it at their desired location. Upon landing, the disc generates multiple barriers from the origin point that block enemy movement.
Sonic Sensor [Q]: This is Deadlock’s second ability and a purchasable one. The agent deploys a sound sensor device, which activates any kind of sound produced in a limited radius. The sensor monitors an area for enemies making sounds. It discusses that area if footsteps, weapons fire, or significant noise are detected.
GravNet [C]: This is Dealock’s third ability and also a purchasable one. The GravNet, when equipped, is in the form of a throwable grenade. When aimed and thrown, this ability can prove fatal for enemies. The GravNet detonates upon landing, creating a net on the ground that forces any enemies caught within to crouch and move slowly.
Annihilation [X]: This is Deadlock’s ultimate ability. This ability unleashed a pulse of nanowires that captured the first enemy that came into contact with it. The nanowire cacoon captures the enemy. The nanowire path pulls the cocooned enemy along, and the enemy would die if they reached the end unless someone frees them. This nanowire cocoon is destructible.
New Agent Deadlock: Release Date
Devs at Valorant have revealed that the agent would be officially available to play in the game at the start of Episode 7, Act 1. Devs are about to release Episode 7 soon. The new Episode is expected to go live on June 27 at 2 pm PT/5 pm ET. And players should expect a lot of new stuff to come with this update.
Episode 7, Act 1 of Valorant, will not just introduce a new agent to the game but also a new game mode. This new game mode will be a team deathmatch mode called HRUM. Furthermore, this update would revamp the whole in-game currency system of Valorant and bring along loads of new and old goodies. This new Episode might as well be one of the most anticipated updates Valorant has rolled out yet.
