Valorant has made waves in the FPS eSports industry. Riot Games‘ first try at the FPS genre after being a leading producer of MOBA games has given them success. Valorant has created sizeable eSports standing by various A & S tier tournaments. The biggest Valorant eSports tournament is the Valorant Champions Tour, or VCT. The VCT International Leagues were first held in June 2021. There are three divisions of the VCT: challengers, masters, and champions. Moreover, the tournament organizers hold the first stage, Challengers, regionally. Lastly, they host the other two stages at bigger venues. VCT has a total prize pool of $4 million, making it a really big eSports tournament. The final stage of the Pacific Challengers playoffs for VCT is underway, and the top two seeds have already been confirmed. It’s DRX and PaperRex!

In the last VCT Champions, LOUD took the stage, with DRX being the third runner-up and PaperRex being the ninth. In a huge tournament like VCT, where the match pool is massive, claiming the runner-up position in the main tournament is a big thing! The VCT Pacific League is going on right now, and DRX & PaperRex have made it to the upper final brackets. Furthermore, considering that the top three seeds in the playoffs qualify for the VCT Masters, both teams have cut the Masters Tokyo and Champions Los Angeles events.

PaperRex won both maps in their qualifying match versus T1 by the same score of 13-10. Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie remarked in a post-match interview.

“I believe that today’s games were really tight. As a team, I believe T1 has made significant progress. When we previously played them, the results were something like 13-3 and 13-6. Therefore, I believe that T1 has really improved, and I believe that there is a good probability that they will also be able to qualify for Tokyo,” The team played exponentially well against T1 and secured their entry to the Masters Tokyo and the Champions Los Angeles.

The third spot hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we’ll know soon enough. As of right now, both the Pacific region’s powerhouse has made it to VCT Masters Tokyo and VCT Champions 2023. Both teams have put in a lot of effort this season. There’s still time for the main event to commence, so fans will see a lot of changes in the team pool as time goes on!
