Virtus pro is suffering due to the recent political turmoil
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has had a lasting impact on the world which has put multiple sanctions on Russia. Virtus Pro is the latest sufferer of this invasion as sanctions keep getting placed on the country of their origin. The entire face of eSports has changed due to this invasion as well because it would be understandable if Russian teams end up harbouring some deep resentment due to the nature of these bans they are facing.

What to happened Virtus pro?
The Gamers Galaxy DOTA 2 Invitational series was taking place in Dubai from 2nd to 6th of March. Virtus pro was supposed to participate in this event, but they were barred formed entering unless they issued a public statement on the current Russian invasion of Ukraine. The organisers also threatened to declare their players COVID positive as a way to keep them from playing in tournaments if their demands weren’t met.

What else has happened in eSports?
The sanctions have been hitting Russia hard economically as major companies stop participating in the market. This also included the eSports sector in which ESL declared that no Russian organizations would be given representation, but their players will still be allowed t play under neutrals names without representation.
