YouTube star MrBeast responds to backlash over promoting TMNT movie during SAG-AFTRA strike
Is Mr. Beast guilty or innocent?
Over the years, many social media influencers have made their entry with cameos into the Hollywood big buster. Most of the time, the debut entries are widely celebrated as fans witness their favorite streamers or personalities on the big screens. On the contrary, it did not go well for MrBeast as his movie happened to release at the same time the industry was facing a strike.
Hollywood has been hit with a strike against actors and writers facing lesser pay and fewer opportunities. It has been trending around, affecting many actors and actresses. It began on July 14th, when the American union, SAG-AFTRA, went on a strike publicly. This was followed by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers’ ongoing labor disputes.

Mr. Beast gets into controversy for promoting TMNT during the SAG-AFTRA strike
As mentioned earlier, cameos done by social media personalities can strike a larger audience. This was evident with the likes of Addison Rae, Logan Paul, and even King Bach, who succeeded in their transition to the big screen. Unfortunately for MrBeast, it came at the wrong time, a time when the industry was fighting for moral justice.
The SAG-AFTRA movement was for more than just the dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. It was also to advocate for better pay and job security. A donation was set up for people to support the cause, with notable celebrities like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively contributing $1 million each.
MrBeast despite wanting to, refrained from promoting his cameo as any actor would, even though it was animated. Unfortunately, fans had pointed out his recent Instagram story where he promoted it, as the SAG-AFTRA strike was going on. Viewers were outrageous and were attacking the philanthropist online. Major backlash spawned online as fans were outrageous that the mega YouTube star had not adhered to the Hollywood strike.
Mr. Beast, however, took to Twitter to clarify his defense. He stated it was in his contract to promote the movie, a contract he signed before the SAG-AFTRA movement. He then pleads to be excused from the matter and claims he will make a donation later. Knowing Mr. Beast for his actions online, it would be bizarre to believe he isn’t going through with the donation.
It seems like Mrbeast cannot get a break in the past few months. People on the internet are finding new ways daily to bash the most subscribed YouTuber. However, MrBeast has been handling this trolling swiftly with his dire humbleness. Many fans were excited about their favorite star having a cameo in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie and has been showering their love too.
