Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ Season 3 introduced the Pyro Commander, a tough new boss in the game’s DMZ mode. He comes armed with a riot shield and a shotgun, making him a formidable opponent for players. The Pyro commander also spawns with a few groups of armored Pyro guards with powerful weapons, making the battle even more challenging.

Players will encounter this new boss while trying to complete the “Redacted” tier-three mission called “Friendly Fire.” In the new Season 3 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2, locating the Pyro commander can be tricky, and killing him even trickier. Besides him, the new season of the game also includes features such as bartering, a Contraband Workbench. Furthermore, in the new season, players can get access to Active-Duty Operator Slots, which give players more options and rewards for their scavenging efforts.

How to locate the Pyro Commander

In Call of Duty: Warzone 2, the new boss Pyro Commander, spawns randomly while playing in DMZ. Another obstacle that the players have to overcome is the stronghold that the boss spawns inside of. To locate him, players should ride around in a fast vehicle or fly with a helicopter. They need to keep their eye on the map for the warning sign that indicates his proximity. Usually, there will be a skull emblem moving around on the map to indicate the boss’s presence.

Additionally, it is important to have various keys or a Skeleton key to access the building he occupies. The keys themselves are hard to get your hands on. Players need to look for Vintage Wine, a Cassette recorder, and Hard Drive to barter in the new Barter system in the buying stations.

The Pyro Commander only spawns in Al Mazrah. Players should visit the Airport control tower, the Downtown Post Office, and the US Embassy in Al Mazrah City to have a chance to face him. If the Weapon Case spawns on the train, players will need to use a light Helo to get a better vantage point.

How to kill the new Boss

Players need to be wary of a few things before taking a shot at the Pyro commander. He is usually surrounded by various explosives, like exploding barrels and weaponry. It is better to face him with a squad than go in solo. The Pyro commander’s henchmen will try their level best to stop you and your team. So, use the following methods to kill the boss,

  • As mentioned, players need to be careful around the explosive barrels, so it’s better to steer clear of them. On top of that, getting rid of the Trophy system will allow you to use your equipment without any hinges.
  • Next, players should focus on flanking the Pyro commander and aim for his head to weaken the armor quickly. 
  • Players can use the exploding barrels to their advantage as well. Lure the Pyro commander near one and shoot at it. By exploding the barrels, you will deal significant damage to him.
  • One thing to keep in mind is that players should keep their distance from the Pyro Commander, otherwise you will die very quickly. The stronghold that the boss spawns is filled with covers like chairs, large tables, and strategically located stairs to take cover.
  • If you are in a squad, have one of your teammates distract the Pyro commander. By shifting his focus to another direction, other players can then move in and kill him. 
  • Lastly, equip you and your squad with as much Molotov and Semtex as possible. Players should throw them from a safe distance. Additionally, use light machine guns like the RAAL MG and the 556 Icarus, equipped with explosive rounds or armor-piercing rounds. 

Players need to plan carefully in order to take the Pyro Commander. Always remember to have good coordination among your squad while executing the mission. More over, the new boss spawns with a Riot shield, which can prolong the process of taking him down. Flank fast and try to lure him out in the open to have a better chance of killing him faster.
