Valorant update 7.05 patch notes: Sunset map joins competitive map rotation, Astra buffs, and more
Check out the new changes in patch 7.05!
Riot Games continues to keep Valorant fresh and exciting with its frequent updates, and patch 7.05 is no exception. In this latest installment, players can expect significant changes, including the addition of the Sunset map to the competitive rotation and some buffs for Astra.
One of the most noteworthy changes in patch 7.05 is Riot’s effort to combat rank boosting in Episode 7 Act 2. Rank boosting is a practice that has become increasingly prevalent, involving both bots and real players. To tackle this issue, Riot has introduced restrictions for Ascendant players and those above. Now, only players with a Platinum rank or higher can be invited to join competitive parties by Ascendant-ranked players. This measure aims to maintain the integrity of competitive matches and ensure a fair gaming environment.
Riot Games remains vigilant in monitoring and penalizing accounts suspected of engaging in rank boosting or any other disruptive behavior. For a more in-depth look at the patch notes, players can explore Valorant’s official website.

Astra receives buff and Sunset joins Valorant competitive rotation
Astra, the cosmic controller agent, receives some significant improvements in this patch. Her Astral Form (X) ability now grants her the power to hear all the sounds occurring around her physical body while in her astral state. This enhancement enhances her situational awareness, making her an even more formidable force on the battlefield.
Another exciting addition in patch 7.05 is the inclusion of the Sunset map in the competitive map rotation. This new map breathes fresh life into the competitive scene, offering players new challenges and opportunities to showcase their skills. The competitive map rotation now features Sunset, alongside other popular maps like Breeze, Ascent, Haven, Bind, Split, and Lotus.
Bug Fixes and Player Behavior Improvements
In addition to the major updates mentioned above, Riot Games has addressed several bugs and made some quality-of-life improvements:
- A bug where the SFX volume would reset to 100% when Alt-Tabbing out of the game has been resolved.
- Astra’s Cosmic Divide (X) no longer has a small audio deadzone.
- Deadlock’s Sonic Sensor (Q) no longer triggers when Gekko’s Wingman (Q) approaches it.
- Agents now properly animate when moving through Omen’s Dark Cover (E) ability.
- Cypher’s Trapwire (C) no longer fails to activate when placed on stairs.
Furthermore, patch 7.05 also brings fixes to player behavior-related issues, such as text chat restrictions, key bind conflicts, and agent profile creation.
Valorant’s update 7.05 introduces a blend of gameplay improvements and quality-of-life enhancements, aiming to provide players with a more balanced and enjoyable gaming experience. With the addition of the Sunset map to the competitive rotation and the buffs to Astra, players can look forward to new challenges and strategies in the game. As always, Riot Games remains committed to maintaining the integrity of competitive play and ensuring that disruptive behavior is swiftly addressed.
