DMZ in Call of Duty Warzone 2.0

Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 is here and along with it comes a new game mode called DMZ. After the massive success of Warzone 1, players of the game are hyped to grind in the new game mode. DMZ mode takes place on a map called Al Mazrah. The primary objective of this mode is to drop in, loot, kill NPCs and wait for an exfil to safely escape and complete the mission.

DMZ or demilitarized zone in Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 is a new concept. Usually, in Battle Royale mode, players fight against each other either Solo, Duo, or with a squad of 4. However, DMZ mode players will queue with 3 people per squad. It’s a battle against the AI to complete missions gather intel and call for a chopper to escape without a hinge. Players need to remember that they have a maximum of 20 minutes to complete the exfil or they will have to face the wrath of the Radiation circle.

How to survive in DMZ mode?

Surviving in the harsh environment of Al Mazrah in DMZ is challenging, with AI roaming around in all corners players need to be quite vigilant. These are strategically posted to stop players to complete the mission. Moreover, enemies also drop in from time to time to make things worse. So, players need to be smart and quiet about their approach to the game mode.

Initially, players will drop with a group of 3 with either 2 sets of guns and some utility or empty-handed (if you are a new player) in DMZ. Subsequently, players need to make their way through the AI-populated area and reach their objectives. They will come under massive fire from the AI enemies and some real-world players as well. While completing the task which takes a little bit of time, players need to defend the designated area (usually SAM sites). So, players need to locate good guns, ammunition, and other utilities to survive longer.

After, successfully defending the area, the player’s next task will be to call for a chopper. For that, players need Warzone 2 DMZ stronghold keys. These keys are scattered throughout the map in various buildings marked on the map. After retrieving the key, which is only useful for that particular round, players need to call for an extraction.

Sometimes, the mission requires a Light Halo (Helicopter). So, the players should open the map and locate it. Fair warning it will be swarming with heavily armored enemies. Occasionally, real-world players would camp nearby and wait for a chance to pounce on you. If you have pretty big loot and some rare guns or gun skins, you might lose them if you die. It’s better to scope out the area first and then move in. The best way to do it use to hop onto a vehicle and just run over enemies. Then take hold of the Halo and for the exfil helipad.

After reaching the helipad, AI will do its level best to stop you from leaving. Once the chopper touches down you have a 30-sec window to get in and 5 more agonizing seconds to survive till it lifts off.

Kill the Commander and get a special Gun

One of the trickiest missions in DMZ is spawning the Commander. First players need to understand who or what the Commander is. If you look closely at the map, you will see a Ghost logo movie around in a heavily guarded area. These Commanders could vary from Halo/Chopper boss and Chemist to a heavily Armored Juggernaut.

The commander is the one who makes the AI tick and is certainly a big menace if you try to confront it. Especially if the Chopper Boss appears and you are solo then it’s pretty much a done deal and you probably will die. It’s best to have allies that you can make throughout the DMZ challenge and fight it together.

The Chemist is an entirely different ball game. Locating him is a massive chore in itself as players need to drive around inside the Radiation circle. Moreover, if players don’t have a Gas mask in their inventory it’s next to impossible to go for this challenge. However, if you do see one and own a gas mask don’t skip the chance to take him down.

The Juggernaut, as the name suggests, is a big well armored AI that uses a Machine gun. If players want to take him down, then equip yourselves with lots of explosives.

As a reward for killing the Commander players will get an M13B assault Rifle for extraction and unlocked for good.

Players can interrogate and use proximity chats to form alliances in Warzone 2.0 DMZ

Yes, players can now interrogate downed enemies (other players) in the new Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 DMZ game mode. Basically, when you shoot someone down you can go to him and hold the X button on your console. This will allow you to gain information about their assigned mission and also the location of their teammates.

Besides interrogating or facing the same treatment themselves, need to be cautious about DMZ’s Proximity Chat function. This means that players need to be wary of their surroundings when they chatter through their Radio. Enemy players can hear them if they get close enough which will be problematic. However, this goes both ways, you can also hear other people’s radio and sneak up on them.

But players should focus on forming alliances instead of killing each other to make a larger squad in DMZ. This will help in taking down not just the commander but also incoming hordes of AI till the extraction.

All the factions in Warzone 2.0 DMZ

There are a few different Factions present in DMZ, which give out missions. These factions are The Legion, White Lotus, and Black Mous. Players can choose to complete these missions before exfil. It is recommended to keep upgrading your gun loadout as the faction missions get more and more demanding as you progress further.

The Legion

Legion is the First contractor that you as an Operator will come across. It’s a private military contractor with ties to greater Western powers.

White Lotus

Players need to complete several missions given by The Legion in order to unlock the second faction White Lotus. Their primary objective is to regain control over the DMZ.

Black Mous

Black Mous will only appear after you successfully complete the challenges given by the previous two factions. This third faction’s strong suit is its network of knowledge. By using it they want to conquer DMZ. Black Mous usually deals in cyberwarfare, by hacking and gathering intel present within the DMZ.

Players can also access and complete various Contracts

Besides factions assigning missions players can complete contracts that spawn in various locations throughout AL Mazrah in DMZ. Similar to the BR mode players can win different rewards and even cash, after successfully completing them. But there’s a slight change in DMZ contracts compared to the Battle Royale mode. These contracts are:

  • Hostage Rescue: Players, after receiving the contract need to locate the hostage and exfil along with him to complete the mission.
  • Secure Intel: After landing in Al Mazrah need to find a laptop and secure intel from its Hard drive. Next, they need to search for the nearest Radio tower on the map, pin it and head there to upload the intel.
  • Geiger Search: Sometimes the hard drive will give you a task to collect Uranium rods with a Geiger counter.
  • Hunt enemy: One of the most common contracts that players receive is killing or hunting High-Value targets, which is usually another Operator. Locate him with the use of the map and eliminate him to complete the mission.
  • Cargo Delivery: In this specific contract players need to find a vehicle that contains important cargo. Get hold of it and drop it off at the marked spot on the map.
  • Destroy Supply Sites: With the help of a bomb, players need to destroy marked supply sites with explosives in order to complete the contract.

Besides Contracts, players will also encounter World Activities. Upon completion, players will win rewards like cash. Drill into marked safes or hack into SAM sites which will help you to take down enemy planes and choppers.

Overall, DMZ in Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 is a great way to gain XP. Players can keep Contraband if they manage to escape with it but beware if you die along with your entire squad in the next match, it will be gone permanently. One big advantage of DMZ is that players who don’t own Modern Warfare 2 can continue to upgrade their weapons and unlock new ones by playing DMZ. Although Warzone Battle Royale has seen a dip in player count recently players continue to enjoy DMZ.
