Will GTA 6 be on PC? Everything you need to know

With the GTA 6 trailer finally dropping soon, fans of the franchise have tons of questions about the upcoming game. One of these is whether the game will be released on PC. The previous installment, GTA V, was initially not released for PCs. The game was released for the Xbox 360 & PS3 at launch. Eventually, it made its way to the next generation, the PS4 and Xbox One.

Only after two years of the game’s launch did it finally see a PC release. While GTA V was already great on consoles, the PC release unlocked many possibilities. Players could explore how the game would look at maximum visual settings. This also introduced mods to the game, which completely changed the way the game was played.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Most franchise installments are available on PC. It seems unlikely that Rockstar Games would deprive one of the most popular gaming platforms of the next Grand Theft Auto. Looking at previous releases, Rockstar Games generally releases GTA for consoles first, then launches a PC version a while later.

GTA San Andreas was initially released for PlayStation 2 in October 2004 before seeing an Xbox and PC launch in June 2005. Similarly, GTA 4 first came out for Xbox 360 and PS3 in April 2008. A PC release would only come in December of that year. The GTA V PC launch took an extra two years as Rockstar Games was focused on the game’s next-gen launch first.

While fans do not know the game’s release date yet, it can be safely assumed that it will launch only for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S whenever possible. Depending on the launch date, Rockstar will not have to worry about a next-gen console launch of the game. Hence, GTA 6 PC will probably launch on PC about six months to a year after the game’s initial release.
