Jannik Sinner has been dominating so much that he is being called an alien by the tennis community. Last year, he lost just six matches, winning eight titles from nine finals.
This year, he once again suffered defeats just six times. His titles tally was six, which he won from 10 finals. The four-time Grand Slam champion reached the final of every Major this year, winning at Wimbledon and defending his Australian Open crown. He also defended his ATP Finals crown by defeating his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz, who was the reason behind his four defeats this year.
Recently, two Italian former tennis players, Paolo Bertolucci and Adriano Panatta, made an appearance on Dancing with the Stars, where they both heaped some praise on the young Italian tennis ace. Bertolucci said, “Jannik Sinner is a phenomenon.”
I truly believe that Jannik Sinner is not human; he comes from another planet. What he does is not normal.
Adriano Panatta said
Sinner, however, drew the ire of the Italian tennis community after he made his feelings known on his Davis Cup Finals decision. The 24-year-old wanted an extra week off so that he could start his pre-season early, and this is the reason why he chose to skip the Davis Cup Finals, where Italy once again reached the final and beat Spain, winning their historic third consecutive title.
Sinner also lost the La Gazzetta dello Sport’s ‘Athlete of the Year Award’ to compatriot Lorenzo Musetti, despite the latter losing the three finals he played. Many believe his Davis Cup controversy was the reason behind this decision.
Sinner, apart from the two Majors, also lifted another Big Title. At the Paris Masters, he ended his Masters 1000 drought by going past Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final, winning his first title in the tournament.
Francisco Cerundolo says Jannik Sinner has no weakness
Jannik Sinner has faced Francisco Cerundolo six times, and before this season, they were tied at 2-2 in the head-to-head matchups. But after this season, Sinner increased his lead to 4-2. Cerundolo, during his interview with Tennis365 at the UTS Grand Final in London, said the Sinner he faced back in 2022 and 2023 versus the Sinner he faced this year were different.

In 2023, he was like No. 5 or No. 6 in the world, and now, obviously, he is No. 1 or No. 2, so it is very different. He had no weaknesses, no holes. I played him in Rome this year, and it was close. This was his first tournament when he came back after his suspension, and I had a little more time to think on the court and try to create something.
This year, they first met in the fourth round of the Italian Open, following which, they clashed in the fourth round of the Paris Masters. Sinner won both matches in straight sets.
Then I played him on Paris indoors on a hard court, and he was unbeatable. I was playing good, but I lost the first set 7-5, and then it was 6-1. Honestly, I felt like I was playing good and you get one game in the set. He is always there. His serve is amazing, his return is incredible, and then with the points at the baseline, he hits the ball really hard, and you have no time. I didn’t know what to do in Paris.
Francisco Cerundolo added
Cerundolo this year reached just one final and ended up losing that match. Alexander Bublik denied him the win at the Swiss Open Gstaad. The last title that Cerundolo lifted was the 2021 Cordoba Open.
