Red Bull and Max Verstappen once again took victory at the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, making it their fifth win out of five races this season. This is their best-ever start to a calendar year. They are miles ahead of the rest of the grid, and their dominance for this season and the years to come looks to be an inevitability.

The Dutchman has won three races this season, and as he showcased in Miami, is ruthless when the gloves come off. He began P9 but cut through the field effortlessly and took the top step of the podium. His teammate Sergio Perez also brought home P2, marking it their fourth 1-2 in five races.

Speaking on the Sky Sports F1 Podcast on this renewed era of Red Bull dominance, Martin Brundle said, “We’re witnessing something special, something incredible, so I don’t know why we need to run and hide from it or talk about it being boring. We know that these circles of dominance fall away and it’s for others to get their acts together, so I think we should embrace it and enjoy it.”

He also emphasized how Max Verstappen displays remarkable talent, effortlessly handling a highly demanding F1 car. The pursuit of excellence takes precedence over conforming to the least challenging standards in the sport. Brundle believes the remainder of the grid must raise their game, and strive to reach Red Bull’s level.

The team from Milton Keynes could not have strived for a better start to the 2023 season. They have picked up right where they left off in 2022. They have a 100% win rate this year and are on a different plane altogether in terms of their performance on the track.

The team is so far up the field, that they have even permitted Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez to fight each other for the driver’s title, without team orders hindering them. The Austrian constructor has shown that even starting ninth on the grid is not an adequate challenge for their golden boy Verstappen after he took victory with ease. This is reminiscent of their four-year domination between 2010 and 2013.

In Baku, the Dutchman’s side pod was severely damaged after an altercation with George Russell, yet he still managed to put a gap of over five seconds between them. During the race, despite suffering from balance issues, he also pulled away from Charles Leclerc. This reflects that even issues with the car are not enough to keep him at bay, such as his prowess behind the wheel.

The Austrian constructors have amassed 224 points from five races out of a possible 235. Absolutely immense. They are 122 points clear of Aston Martin in second and have built a nearly insurmountable lead. It seems inevitable that Red Bull will be repeating their success of 2022 this year. The only team that has been as consistent as them is Aston Martin, but it is highly unlikely that they mount a title charge to challenge the Bulls.
