Tua Tagovailoa played all of last season without any concussions or major injuries. In that span, he led the high-flying Miami Dolphins offense to lead all quarterbacks in yards per attempt and passer rating. That prompted his franchise to reward him with one of the highest salaries the NFL has seen. But after leaving tonight’s game against the Buffalo Bills due to a concussion, former NFL stars are asking ‘that’ crucial question again.

To start with was former All-Pro receiver Dez Bryant. The former Dallas Cowboys star took to his official X account to write what he saw transpired in the Thursday Night game.

That’s it…. NFL go ahead and do the right thing. Tua has had entirely way too many concussions. He need to retire for his longevity health concerns.

Bryant called the NFL to step in and try and take a call on the quarterback’s future, suggesting that it will be the right thing to do, even if the Miami Dolphins star might want to continue.

The NFL world is not witnessing this for the first time. In the 2022-23 season, they saw enough evidence to throw retirement talks up in the air. But last season shut down that noise as he torched teams en route to his only Pro Bowl selection.

But this concussion, that too from a collision others suggest he could have avoided, has everyone asking the most important question. He is only 26 years old and, if healthy, has a long life ahead of him. Bryant is asking if risking that life is worth the money he is looking to earn or the accolades he desires.

Shannon Sharpe chimes in on Tua Tagovailoa retirement suggestions

NFL Hall of Famer and former star tight end Shannon Sharpe took to X to add to the growing calls for retirement.

Really hope Tua is ok, but he’s gotta seriously think about shutting it dwn. I H8 saying this. His concussions are getting worse and worse and he’s a young man with his entire life ahead of him.
Shannon Sharpe wrote on X

Shannon Sharpe wrote this on the evidence of what he has seen from the young quarterback’s career. Concussions are dominating the headlines more than his football accolades.

With his future health at risk, Sharpe prefers if he revisits the retirement discussions he had with his family after the 2022-23 season. Football as a sport is already too physical that it leaves many to quit before it becomes too much. Andrew Luck, an elite quarterback in his own right, left the game for his health.

Shannon Sharpe wants Tua Tagovailoa to do the same. He has earned enough to walk away and still have enough to live out his life luxuriously. As a competitor, he might not want to walk away at such a young age. That is why these words from former players should land on his ears.
