He’ll definitely get an engine penalty in Austin. So he’ll have a bit of a soft landing, or soft return.

Christian Horner said at the F1 Nation Podcast

Liam Lawson was impressive during his initial runs for AlphaTauri (RB) midway through the previous season. The 22-year-old was selected as a replacement for Daniel Ricciardo, who injured his wrist at the 2023 Dutch GP.

The New Zealander will therefore be presented with an even greater challenge due to the penalty. He currently remains without a stable contract for the 2025 season. Lawson’s performances in the remaining races will thus be of utmost importance to him.
