Since the beginning of the 2024 season, Red Bull has been under a constant frenzy. The allegations against team principal, Christian Horner and internal power struggles had almost guaranteed that there would be major repercussions. Indeed consequences were witnessed in the Austrian giant’s stable as Adrian Newey revealed that he would exit the team next year. Moreover, he was recently spotted signing a Ferrari flag, throwing the rumor mill into a major frenzy.

Adrian Newey joined Red Bull in 2006, with a CV full of world championships backing his claim to be the greatest designer ever. Furthermore, his stint with Red Bull garnered him immense attention within the paddock as his designs thrashed its competition.

Though some fans may reckon that signing a flag or apparel might not be a big deal, F1 drivers and key personnel are known for their loyalty towards their teams and are not often spotted signing rival team’s merchandise.

Ex-F1 driver reckons that Adrian Newey has already been signed by Ferrari

On the contrary, Fred Vasseur recently stated that he believes in the power of a group rather than an individual. This statement was in reference to rumors regarding Newey’s transfer to the Italian powerhouse. Moreover, after such claims, experts reckoned that the 65-year-old may not be headed to Maranello but elsewhere on the grid, however, Giedo Van der Garde reckons otherwise.

The Dutchman claimed that Newey was already in Vasseur’s arsenal.

What [Vasseur] has done for Ferrari in recent years is very impressive. Strategically he has put in different people, and he has linked a new [race] engineer to Leclerc. He won right away [in Monaco last weekend]. He has attracted other people to the team, and he has Adrian Newey.
Giedo Van der Garde said on Viaplay

The 39-year-old elaborated that ever since joining Ferrari in 2023, the Frenchman has adopted a major restructuring process. This was subsequently witnessed when he was able to poach Lewis Hamilton away from Mercedes. Furthermore, he reckons that history would be repeated and was convinced that the design genius had already committed his future to Ferrari.

Despite Garde’s claims, there is still no confirmation of where Newey will be headed in 2025. Thus, the next few months would be crucial to determine where the design wizard might end up for the upcoming years of the sport.
