Historically, F1 has largely had a male-dominated audience. However, this trend seems to be changing as the fanbase has expanded drastically and the representation of females has been massively growing. Witnessing this, Williams driver, Alex Albon claimed that he feels like pop icon Harry Styles amidst the ever-increasing female fanbase.
Harry Styles is a 30-year-old British singer who has made strides in the music industry. The pop singer has delivered multiple song hits and was part of the famous One Direction band before its adjournment. This made him a popular figure among listeners, which made millions of females a part of his Stylers fandom group.
Observing a similar pattern in F1’s demographic base, Alex Albon jokingly claimed that he felt like Harry Styles.
Amazing to see such a female based audience [in F1]... I feel more like Harry styles!Alex Albon said as quoted by Motorsport
The Thai-British driver admitted that it was amazing to witness such a large female-based audience. Then Albon humorously remarked that he felt like Styles surrounded by the largely female audience. F1, as a sport, has evolved massively in the last few years.
Alex Albon gives views on possibility of fans witnessing an all-British podium in Silverstone
The upcoming race in Silverstone is Albon’s partial home race. The 28-year-old was born in London but races under Thailand’s flag. Moreover, as the British GP weekend is going on in full swing, expectations among the British drivers to finish on the podium in front of the home crowd have begun building up.
Subsequently, when Albon was questioned about whether the podium would be filled by British drivers, he gave a humorous response.
You have a Dutch guy[Max Verstappen] who might have something to do with it. If he has a DNF, I think it’s very much on but you need to dispose of him first.Alex Albon said in an interview with Sky Sports F1
Albon pointed out that the sport has a Dutch guy in the form of Max Verstappen, but despite this, he can’t rule out this possibility. So he claimed that first, the British drivers would need to somehow get rid of the reigning champion to even have a chance to finish on the esteemed rostrum.
Apart from this, the last time the F1 paddock witnessed an all-British podium was at the 1968 US Grand Prix. So it would be a tough task to recreate this spectacle amid the tightening field at the front.
