Aston Martin has continued to undergo multiple key acquisitions and changes in order to score a massive turnaround in performance. The Silverstone-based constructor started by acquiring a deal with Honda for power units from 2026 followed by poaching Red Bull’s Adrian Newey. Hence, amidst the ongoing changes, the team is rumored to aim at acquiring the reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

Due to Red Bull’s superior pace, Max Verstappen was enabled to win the drivers’ title four times in a row since 2021. Due to this, the Dutchman’s valuation has gone up multiplefold since then and has caught the attention of multiple teams. Hence, amidst Red Bull’s extreme performance struggles in 2024, Aston Martin set their eyes on acquiring Verstappen at an exorbitant amount.

According to reports by The Daily Mail, Aston Martin is ready to pay up to $1.2 billion just to acquire Verstappen in the team. However, the 27-year-old will earn this amount over the years and not as a one-off payment to join the constructor. If the reigning world champion decides to accept the deal, it would go down in history as one of the biggest deals, if not the biggest.

Jos Verstappen reckons Red Bull ‘in danger of falling apart’

Red Bull’s mass exodus continues as the team faces massive issues in performance since the past season. The internal issues within the team amongst Christian Horner and Helmut Marko might be one of the many reasons pushing Max Verstappen to exit the team. Verstappen’s father, Jos Verstappen gave his verdict on the rumors and talked about the massive danger within the constructor.

Verstappen Sr. pointed out that the chassis’ performance did not improve when Adrian Newey left the team. The updates did not work out in favor of the team amidst the mass exodus. As a result, Milton Keynes ran the biggest risk of falling apart in the coming seasons. Hence, the team had a ‘big challenge’ ahead of the commencement of the 2025 season.

The fact is that the car did not improve when he [Newey] left the team. In particular, the updates no longer worked as desired. I have talked enough about the reasons why the team is in danger of falling apart. Let’s leave it at that. One thing is certain: Red Bull has a big challenge ahead of it in 2025.

Jos Verstappen told F1-insider

Red Bull has the massive task of improving performance in the coming season to retain the current set of personnel. A lot of changes have already happened to the team and any more could cause instability within them. As such, the constructor must focus on the 2025 season and deem a better start in order to keep Verstappen satisfied.
