Lando Norris established himself as the favorite to defeat Max Verstappen for the world title this season. As such, fans had high expectations of the Briton for the Azerbaijan GP. However, things have gone wrong for Norris in Qualifying.
The 24-year-old had failed to have the best of runs at the start of Q1. However, it was anticipated that Norris would recover lost ground and put in a decent lap to go through by the end of the session. Unfortunately, Lando Norris backed off from his final lap and ended the session in the knockout zone.
Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri had a much better run in the session and easily made it to Q2. Undoubtedly, this would be a major blow for Norris with an opportunity for Max Verstappen to gain some ground over his rival.
Fans disappointed to see Lando Norris out of Azerbaijan GP Qualifying
Fans on X were quick to share their views on Norris’ elimination. One user took a dig at the British driver for this shocking result. The user wrote, “lmao what a loser.” While another fan claimed that Lando Norris simply ‘bottled’ his lap during the session.
Moreover, one fan mocked Norris with the infamous ‘Lando Nowins’ nickname. Another user wondered if the British driver knew he was fighting for the championship for McLaren after the Woking-based team revealed it would enforce team orders to support him over Piastri.

Certainly, Lando Norris has faced a heavy setback in Qualifying. However, the McLaren star must get over this and bounce back in the race. The Woking-based squad needs a good result this weekend to finally topple Red Bull from the championship lead.
