Former strategist turned F1 pundit, Bernie Collins, has made some bold comments concerning Lando Norris and McLaren. Following their recent performances, Collins has claimed that the team and Norris lack trust in each other.

Lando Norris and the papaya outfit committed a strategic blunder at the British Grand Prix, which cost them the win. Norris has been a faster driver in comparison to many on the grid but has faltered at the crucial moments of a race.

Bernie Collins has deemed the relationship between the Woking-based team and Norris to be a new one, which has been the reason for their shortfalls. The F1 pundit has also cited examples of Mercedes and Red Bull stating their clinical nature, which wins races.

Mercedes and Red Bull appear to have the edge in terms of making consistently good decisions as a team. I think the build of the relationship with Lando Norris is pretty new and there just doesn't seem to be that trust there.

McLaren’s missed win at Silverstone has dropped them to 78 points adrift of leaders, Red Bull, in the 2024 constructors championship. The papayas will now try to regroup and revisit their issues in order to pounce wholly upon opportunities in this week’s event in Budapest.

Andrea Stella claims ‘ there’s more to be done’ for McLaren ahead of Hungarian GP

McLaren team principal, Andrea Stella has praised the team for their achievements during the recent F1 triple header. Stella has, however, outlined the need for his squad to do more to improve their chances in Budapest.

We’re encouraged to keep improving to ensure we keep the pressure on the competition. We’re prepared and looking forward to returning to the Hungaroring circuit. However, there’s more to be done.

McLaren amassed 77 points in the triple-header, which takes them to a total of 295 for the season. The MCL38 has proved extremely potent, with some occasions where their car has fared better than Red Bull’s RB20 and Mercedes’s W15.

Despite successful outings in the previous races, the outfit has only won once in 12 races this campaign. McLaren must now battle the likes of Red Bull and Mercedes to convert their good performances into wins at the upcoming races in Budapest and Spa.
