Lewis Hamilton will be making one of the biggest moves in sporting history when he joins Scuderia Ferrari in 2025. The British driver hopes to win his record-breaking eighth world title with the Italian team. However, former F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has warned Hamilton over Ferrari’s support for Charles Leclerc.
Leclerc has raced for the Scuderia since 2019. The Monegasque driver even received the longest contract in Ferrari’s history. Charles Leclerc had even managed to build the team around him in his first season, ultimately forcing Sebastian Vettel‘s exit.
Bernie Ecclestone highlighted that things won’t be easy for Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari. The 94-year-old claimed that the Scuderia will back the young and fast Leclerc. Ecclestone reckoned that the Italian team will not dump Charles Leclerc for anyone, even Hamilton. This could create an interesting rivalry within Maranello next season.
Bernie Ecclestone gives blunt advice to Lewis Hamilton
The seven-time world champion is having an underwhelming final campaign with Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton has expressed his frustration time and time again. Bernie Ecclestone insisted that if Hamilton was indeed fading, it would be better for him to try something else and do that well instead of staying in Formula 1.
It is clear that Hamilton won’t have smooth sailing at Ferrari from the get-go. The British driver needs to rediscover his form once he joins Maranello. Moreover, the 39-year-old faces the stiff challenge of matching Leclerc. As such, fans can expect to see an exciting situation at the Scuderia for the next two seasons.
