Lewis Hamilton‘s debut season at Ferrari has remained extremely troublesome. The Briton failed to amass any notable results in the first 13 races. Hamilton’s performance at the most recent Hungarian GP, ahead of the summer break, was one of the worst, if not the worst, race weekends in his entire career. As such, ex-F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone called out the 40-year-old to stop taking untoward risks in the sport anymore.

Lewis Hamilton‘s woes began early on during the Hungarian GP weekend, and his poor form continued in the qualifying session as well. The 40-year-old called Ferrari to replace him in the team as he was ‘useless’ in terms of performance. Hamilton’s race pace was nothing to write a story about, either, as multiple in-race incidents caused him to ultimately finish in only P12. Now, as the seven-time champion hopes to continue racing with Ferrari until he gets a championship, Bernie Ecclestone feels otherwise.

Bernie Ecclestone declared that he didn’t want something bad to happen to Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari. Although Hamilton steers clear of the majority of the on-track accidents and hasn’t been involved in a nasty accident recently, Ecclestone asserted that it wouldn’t be worth it for the 40-year-old to spend a couple of years recovering from a ‘nasty back injury’. The Briton’s injury would be even more problematic as he isn’t contending for any of the championships and would only do more harm to his career than good.

I wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to Lewis, He’s not fighting for a world championship and is at a stage of his life when it wouldn’t be worth him spending two years laid up in bed with a broken back or anything else nasty.

Bernie Ecclestone told Mail Sport

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most achieved individuals in the history of Formula 1. The 40-year-old has truly achieved it all when it comes to championship titles and race wins. As such, Bernie Ecclestone insisted that Hamilton did not need to take big risks anymore. The 94-year-old emphasized that the Briton had already won seven drivers’ titles, which was quite enough for his career.

He doesn’t need to take the risk any longer. He’s won seven world titles and that is quite enough.

Lewis Hamilton ‘looking forward’ to return after summer break

The entire F1 grid will head into the month-long summer break as Lewis Hamilton could definitely use some time away from the grid. The Briton has already talked about how emotional the break would be, owing to an extremely torrid first half of the season. However, despite the woes in Hungary, Hamilton has already expressed his interest in coming back to racing for the latter half of the year.

Lewis Hamilton pointed out that he looked forward to coming back and reassured the grid that he would be back in better form. The 40-year-old asserted that Ferrari made some upgrades in the right direction, as they hope to be as competitive as the front of the grid now. Moreover, Hamilton pinpointed that Charles Leclerc progressed well in recent races as Maranello hopes to extract more from the car.

I look forward to coming back, I’ll be back. We’ve definitely made some improvements on the upgrades, and it is a shame that we’re not as competitive as the guys in front. But we’ve seen Charles have a really strong run in the last two races, and the car is definitely progressing, so we have to keep trying to extract more from it.

Lewis Hamilton said, as reported by RacingNews365.com

Ferrari still needs to cover massive ground in terms of improvements against the rivals. The team has maintained its runner-up position in the constructors’ championship. Although fighting for the WCC seems impossible, the team will give it their all in the final ten races. Lewis Hamilton will definitely be the driver to watch as he hopes to recover from the desperate performance slump.
