Lewis Hamilton shocked the sporting world when he announced his move to Ferrari for 2025. The seven-time world champion’s switch has become the biggest topic in the F1 paddock. However, former F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has refused to join this bandwagon.
Hamilton’s arrival was met with massive fanfare from the Tifosi, leading to a state of emergency in Maranello. The 40-year-old has already conducted two track tests for the Italian team. While, some expect the Briton to generate over $125 million for Ferrari during his stint.
Bernie Ecclestone declared that the seven-time world champion will not last even two seasons with the Scuderia. The 94-year-old asserted that Enzo Ferrari‘s son Piero Ferrari thinks he made the right call with Hamilton. Ecclestone hoped that Maranello does not end up regretting this decision.
Hamilton won’t last two years in Maranello. Piero Ferrari, who brought him there, thinks he did the right thing and I hope so. I hope they don’t end up regretting this operation.
Bernie Ecclestone told The Telegraph
Bernie Ecclestone feels Lewis Hamilton lost motivation
The British driver joins Ferrari after a dismal few seasons at Mercedes, where he grew increasingly frustrated. Bernie Ecclestone insisted that Lewis Hamilton‘s age was not as important as compared to the motivation he might’ve lost in recent years. The 94-year-old explained that things would’ve been different if Hamilton had not won a championship.

I have my own theory about age: it doesn’t matter, but it matters how long the same thing has been done. With Lewis, I thought he got tired and lost his motivation. If he had never won a World Cup, it would have been different, but he won seven.
Bernie Ecclestone added
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton seems determined to make a mark with Ferrari this year. The seven-time world champion is leaving no stone unturned to make his latest chapter a success. However, the Tifosi will have to wait till the first race of the season to see if the F1 star will really have a shot at an eighth title this season.
