Formula 1 has witnessed substantial growth in popularity and global viewership in recent years. The upcoming F1 Movie, starring Brad Pitt and produced by Lewis Hamilton, is set to boost the sport’s ever-growing popularity further. However, this surge in popularity has come with its own set of challenges. The sport, along with its drivers, has recently faced criticism for some unforeseen reasons. Amid this wave of negativity, Pitt has acknowledged the immense pressures and challenges that come with being an F1 driver.
The Formula 1-based Drive to Survive docuseries, produced by Netflix, was one of the biggest promoters of the sport at the time of its release. While the series covered great behind-the-scenes of the sport, many og fans believed that DTS painted a negative narrative against certain drivers, which wasn’t very healthy. Moreover, the constant back-and-forth of the drivers with the FIA also creates an unseen negativity around those involved for insignificant issues.
Brad Pitt, who has acted in multiple blockbusters and knows the challenges of being an actor of such pedigree, accepts that being an F1 driver is a different level of crazy. The American star recalled that he used to think that he got it bad. However, after working closely with almost all Formula 1-related personnel, he came to realize that F1 drivers were under much more fire as compared to any other professionals.
Pitt pointed out that not everyone could race in the pinnacle of motorsports simply because they could drive fast cars down the freeway. The 61-year-old acknowledged that the F1 drivers faced a lot of ‘s**t’ for practically no reason. The American star labeled the entire ordeal as ‘shocking’ as they faced flak even after giving it their all for the sport. He finally declared that the drivers needed a much thicker skin and needed to be resilient to all the noise from the outside in order to maintain good results.
I think we’ve got it bad. But those guys are so scrutinized and that sport is so revered and there are so many of us that think we could do it, too, just because we drive a car fast down the freeway or something. They get so much s**t. It is shocking to me. They’ve got to have thicker skin than even us.

Lewis Hamilton received the opportunity and honor to work alongside one of the best actors in the world in the F1 Movie. Even the Briton was unable to control his fanboy moment after meeting Brad Pitt. Throughout the shooting of the movie, Hamilton was able to learn more about Pitt not only as an actor but also as a human. As such, the seven-time champion highlighted the standout interesting thing about the 61-year-old.

Brad Pitt had to sit inside the cockpit of the world’s fastest single-seater car and race in it in order to make the scenes as realistic as possible. Hamilton reckoned that Pitt, despite being unaware of Formula 1 and what goes on, did not fail at nailing his role. The 40-year-old noted that the American was already a bit of a racer at heart, which made the filming process even smoother and easier.
The most interesting thing about Brad, is that he’s already a bit of a racer at heart.
