Lewis Hamilton-produced F1 film is all set to release internationally on 25th June, with the US release set two days later. The official premiere of the movie was recently held at New York’s Times Square. A massive fan and celebrity turnaround was witnessed at the event as the movie nears its release date. Now, Brad Pitt, who is the protagonist, has talked about the ‘hardest’ part that the crew faced during the ideation of the film.
The F1 movie is set to contain super-realistic scenes from the pinnacle of motorsport, with Lewis Hamilton playing a major role in the realism part of the filming process. The movie has also been created with a massive budget of over $400 million, and the filmmakers expect a greater revenue collection than this. However, filming a movie based on one of the biggest sports in the world was not easy. Brad Pitt opened up about the hurdles faced by the crew.
Pitt revealed that the hardest part during the ideation phase of the movie was actually developing a good story. The directors finalized the story of a veteran, Sonny Hayes, played by the Hollywood icon, who partners with the sensational rookie Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, both racing for the APXGP team. The 61-year-old pointed out that Formula 1 remains a very revered sport for a lot of people in the world, while many know very little about it, which was yet another problem.
The hardest thing was to develop a story. The sport is so revered and there’s so many people that are quite knowledgeable about it, and then there’s so many people who haven’t seen it yet.
Brad Pitt said, as reported by Formula 1
Brad Pitt highlighted that the filmmakers did not want to dumb down the movie too much so that the core audience wouldn’t have fun. However, at the same time, the people who weren’t as knowledgeable about the sport would enjoy the fictional part of the story. Hence, this was yet another difficult part during the entire filming process as the American is confident that the crew has done a ‘damn good’ job in.
And to try to thread this needle where we’re not dumbing it down to those in the know, but it’s an invitation and explanation for those who have not been around this sport before, was really the most difficult thing of it all, and I think we did a pretty damn good job.

Brad Pitt reveals ‘unforgettable’ experience during F1 film shooting
Brad Pitt wasn’t much associated with Formula 1 before the entire idea of creating a film on the sport came up. As such, Pitt was worried that the F1 drivers and community wouldn’t welcome the actors with open arms. However, over the course of a couple of years, the filming crew was met with great enthusiasm as the drivers even gave a positive review on the film after watching it in a private screening.

Speaking on his own experience, Brad Pitt acknowledged that the teams and drivers opened their doors without any hesitation for the filming crew. The people of the sport accepted the actors in a way that he never expected. As such, this was one of the most unforgettable moments that Pitt would cherish for the rest of his life. This proves just how human some of the greatest athletes in the world are, no matter their position in the sport.
The teams and the drivers, everyone opened their doors for us and [they] are a big part of this movie. [They] let us in in a way that I would never have expected. [It was] just an experience I will never forget.
Brad Pitt noted
The official premiere was an extremely star-studded event, with even Lewis Hamilton showing up in an impressive outfit. The people who attended the screening have given a great review of the movie, and fans now await the official release. The film is set to contain some fictional scenes, which might not be met with the same enthusiasm as other aspects. Still, this picture is the closest it can be to the pinnacle of motorsport.
