Following the team’s FW47 chassis reveal, the 30-year-old laid out his plans to achieve his ‘proudest moment’ with the British constructor.
Williams has been facing multiple challenges in recent years to replicate their dominant championship-winning performance in the past. The drivers’ lineup is strengthened now with Carlos Sainz joining the team. Sainz recently assessed his chances of pulling of a shocking win or podium in the Williams colors.
The 30-year-old revealed that he was joining Williams at a ‘very important moment’ of the English team. Sainz insisted that achieving even a podium with Grove based side would be one of the ‘proudest moments’ in his career.
I’m in my 10th year in Formula 1, and I’m joining Williams at a very important moment for Williams, where it’s going through some key changes in its history. Nothing would make me happier and more proud, and it would definitely be the proudest moment of my career, if one day I can be on a podium with this team.
Carlos Sainz told Motorsport.com.
Williams set to ‘bring out the best version’ of Carlos Sainz
Carlos Sainz achieved notable results with Ferrari, after scoring over four race wins and impressive 25 podium finishes. Sainz pointed out that he wanted to help bring the ‘historic team’ back to the top in the pinnacle of motorsport. The 30-year-old further took a dig at Maranello, claiming that he felt ‘supported’ at Williams. Moreover, the Spanaird believed that Grove brought out his best version in Formula 1.

I want to help in that process of a historic team. It’s the second most successful team in Formula 1 and being part of that process back to the top of Formula 1 is what motivates me. I think you guys can tell I’m happy. I feel supported by this team, and I think that’s hopefully going to bring out the best version of myself.
Carlos Sainz noted.
Williams’ performance in the 2024 season was dissatisfactory, to say the least. Sainz could bring great glory to Grove due to his experience in Formula 1. Moreover, Alex Albon is also an exceptional talent, aiming to maximize points for the team over the race weekends. Time will tell about how the coming season pans out for the British constructor.
