Ferrari crew had started the 2024 season off in a great fashion by scoring two race wins in nine outings. Maranello had a nightmare session during the Canadian GP after facing a double DNF. Regardless, the team was hopeful of a better session this time around after locking the third-row during qualifying. However, during the race, Carlos Sainz faced an unfortunate incident with Charles Leclerc at the beginning.
The start of the Spanish GP was highly interesting with George Russell driving in a great fashion and taking the lead in the race. The two Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz faced a mediocre start to the race with a collision between the two. Sainz tried to overtake Leclerc off the start which caused a collision. The Spaniard took to his team radio and mentioned that the Monegasque ‘touched’ his chassis and pushed him off the track.
He touched me and we collided, and he pushed me off.Carlos Sainz said on his team radio.
Additionally, Sainz comparatively had a better start to the Spanish GP which allowed him to maintain a lead over his teammate. However, Leclerc attempted a risky maneuver which further caused a collision. Hence, the 29-year-old further added on team radio that Leclerc crashed with the rear right of the former’s chassis. This proved that the Spaniard was ahead of his teammate during the race start.
He touched my rear right so I was clearly ahead.Carlos Sainz added.

Hence, the entire race would require Ferrari to put forth their A-game to score some decent results. Leclerc is extremely close to Lando Norris in the drivers’ championship. As a result, Maranello will likely attempt to undercut Norris to further enable any chances of competition with the Briton down the race.
