Ahead of the ongoing campaign, Carlos Sainz came across the news of him getting replaced at Ferrari for 2025 by Lewis Hamilton. However, this decision may be regretted by the Scuderia as the Spaniard has upped his game in recent races and undoubtedly, is his best start to a season with the team by a long shot.

Carlos Sainz joined Ferrari in 2021, replacing the outgoing Sebastian Vettel. Moreover, the 29-year-old brilliantly took up the former champion’s role as he finished best of the rest that season ahead of Charles Leclerc. However, this form quickly dropped from the next season as he finished miles behind his teammate, and the same continued in 2023. However, his consistency improved later on.

However, in stark contrast, while reflecting on his 2024 campaign, Sainz claimed it is his best so far with the Maranello-based outfit.

The Spanish driver started the season off with a podium at Bahrain but was taken aback by an appendix surgery during the Saudi weekend. But to everyone’s surprise, he returned in strong form and emerged victorious in Australia. Subsequently, this impressive run of performances and the consecutive top-three finishes made Sainz claim that it was his best season at Ferrari so far.

Moreover, the Spaniard was a part of Red Bull’s pool of drivers when he made his debut, and Marko drew comparison to his performance at Toro Rosso with his current ones at Ferrari.

Well, he was still very young back then. But in the meantime, he has developed really well and is showing incredible form.
Helmut Marko said in an interview with OE24

The Austrian claimed that Sainz was quite young and inexperienced when he made his debut in 2015. However, he has now developed into a more mature driver and is a perfect candidate for any top team.

Despite this surge in his form, the 29-year-old is still looking for a new home on the grid. Moreover, it is anticipated that he is on the targets list of Audi, Mercedes, and Red Bull, but confirmation regarding his future is yet to come. The upcoming months could make the picture a bit clearer!
