Carlos Sainz was left in limbo after Ferrari announced Lewis Hamilton’s arrival for 2025. The Spanish driver ultimately signed a deal with Williams after failed discussions with Mercedes and Red Bull. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old might stand out in the upcoming season.

Sainz showed no signs of downturn in performance in 2024. Rather, he made a major contribution in Ferrari’s rise to second in the standings, alongside teammate Charles Leclerc. The four-time race winner seemed to be even more determined to make his mark after the Scuderia’s decision to let him go.

The 30-year-old became hot property in the F1 driver market. Both Audi and Alpine were eager to acquire the services of Carlos Sainz. The Spanish driver reportedly received a massive offer from the latter, which even Red Bull could not match. However, Sainz showed faith in James Vowles’ Williams.

Carlos Sainz is the ideal driver for Williams

The former Red Bull driver embarks on a new journey at Grove this year. The F1 midfield witnessed fierce competition last season. 2025 will see the arrival of rookies, including Gabriel Bortoleto, Oliver Bearman, and Jack Doohan who will likely battle Sainz on a regular basis.

Carlos Sainz has been used to fighting at the front since he joined Ferrari in 2021. He will thus bring immense experience and knowledge to Williams this year, something rivals such as Audi’s Sauber, and Haas lack. On a challenging day such as a race in the rain, this might make all the difference.

Moreover, Williams is on a path to get back to the front of the grid. Team owners Dorilton Capital have invested heavily into the team and seen relative progress. Carlos Sainz would be banking on this trajectory to potentially fight for a podium finish ever so often.

The 30-year-old will be looking to show that he does not deserve to be fighting just for a couple of points every race. This would further revitalize his spirits. As such, fans should keep an eye on Carlos Sainz’s debut Williams campaign.
