The Ferrari F1 team has been on a downward spiral since their historic triumph at the Monaco GP. The outfit has faced several setbacks but ahead of this week’s race in Hungary, Carlos Sainz has claimed that his team can again fight for wins this year.
Ferrari’s SF-24 has not proved to be worthy of challenging for the top spots in recent races. While they are still in second position in the constructors championship, they are behind Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes in terms of car performance.

However, despite the issues with the SF-24, Carlos Sainz‘ is hopeful of a massive upturn in Ferrari’s fortunes.
I think there is a chance this year, we just need two or three-tenths. Right now, we are two or three-tenths away from fighting for wins. But I think we will have two or three tenths in the car from here until the next six or seven races.Carlos Sainz via Marca
The three-time Grand Prix winner has made it known that Ferrari just needs a little bit of extra performance from the SF-24. Moreover, he has surprisingly admitted that his team will have an additional boost from the ongoing race weekend.
Carlos Sainz’ feels victories will also depend on rival teams
While Sainz has made it known that Ferrari is pushing hard to fight for wins, he feels winning will also depend on the performance of rival teams. In recent races, the top outfits have been operating in a league of their own.

Ferrari, on the other hand, has been tussling around the mid-field pack of the grid.
Our victories or what we achieve will depend on our opponents, on the mistakes of others, not on how well we do as happened in Australia or Monaco.Carlos Sainz said in the same interview
The Maranello-based team has two world-class drivers in the form of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. If Fred Vasseur and Co. can find additional performance from the SF-24, it will bode extremely well for the team for the rest of the 2024 F1 season. The ongoing Hungarian race weekend could give a clearer picture of whether Ferrari really would be able to fight the heavy hitters again this year or not.
