Scuderia Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz has shared his happiness and delight for the first home win of his teammate, Charles Leclerc in the Monaco Grand Prix. Sainz put on a competitive performance himself and finished the event in P3.

Carlos Sainz has been in superb form since his appendicitis surgery during the Saudi Arabian GP weekend. He won his first race of the season at the Australian Grand Prix. However, the Spaniard was extremely delighted to see Charles Leclerc win his home race for the first time in his career after a tireless performance during the whole Monaco weekend.

Currently, there are doubts regarding Sainz’s future on the grid as his contract expires with Ferrari at the end of this season. The seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton is set to fill his seat with the Tifosi for the 2025 campaign. However, the Spanish driver has been persistent in his efforts for the team, despite the uncertainty regarding his future.

It was a tight one and a very bad feeling there in Lap 1 that turned into a very good feeling getting reinstated into P3. But I'm extremely happy to see Charles win his home Grand Prix and getting to share it with him.

Sainz had a particularly unlucky start to his Monaco race as he punctured his car going into turn 1 and thought that his race would be over. However, to his fortune, a red flag caused by a collision between Kevin Magnussen and Sergio Perez allowed him to get back into the pits, where he pitted for newer tires and was able to race to secure P3.

Alpine boss infuriated on Esteban Ocon’s first lap lunge on teammate

While Ferrari had a memorable outing in Monaco, the same was not the case for Alpine. Its Team Principal, Bruno Famin emerged as a furious figure upon Esteban Ocon‘s first lap lunge on his teammate, Pierre Gasly which led the latter to retire from the race. Ocon tried to overtake Gasly with a careless lunge which led to a collision between the two.

It’s exactly what we didn’t want to see. Esteban’s attack was totally out of circumstances. It was exactly what we didn’t want to see and we’re going to draw the consequences. We’re going to make a tough decision.
Alpine Vice President Bruno Famin spoke in an interview to French TV channel Canal+.

Esteban Ocon tried to overtake Pierre Gasly during the first lap of the race, which was not the correct thing to do provided both the drivers were from the same team. The former left zero room for his teammate which made Gasly touch the rear end of Ocon’s car, forcing the 26-year-old to retire on the first lap of the race.

This issue came at a time when Alpine was just starting to find its pace during the recent Monaco weekend, having underperformed the entire season. Gasly finished in P10 with one point, whereas Ocon came away with a DNF. The latter is also set to receive a penalty at the next race because of his Monaco antics.
