Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz finished P2 at the United States Grand Prix after a hard-fought performance. Sainz, who will join Williams Racing in 2025, has secured a total of 215 points for the Maranello-based team.

Carlos Sainz started the season looking strong with his performances after winning the Australian GP. However, his performances witnessed a steady decline due to Ferrari’s struggles midway through the season.

The Spaniard is nevertheless hopeful of making a good run in Mexico this weekend. He feels confident in his team’s chances after their result in Austin last week. Sainz claims that the Maranello-based team may even claim the win with the correct strategies and execution.

I hope that we can be in the mix like we were in Austin. I think if we are in the mix, given our race pace this year and what can happen here at the start, even if you are not on pole you might have a chance at winning. Before Austin I doubted whether we could be in the mix at tracks like Austin, but the fact that we dominated there and were so strong gives me hope. And as long as we are in the mix, anyone can win.

Ferrari currently stands third in the constructors’ championship, trailing the leader McLaren by 48 points. If they manage to secure consecutive wins and podiums in the remaining races, the Maranello-based team might just be able to win the title this year.

I’m going to give it my absolute best and if it comes, great, and I’ll be celebrating, but if it doesn’t, I don’t believe it will be my last chance of fighting for wins or podiums in Formula One. I will work hard with Williams or in the future, to put myself in a position to win because that’s what I’m hungry for and that’s what I believe I can do. I’ve proved that I can do in a Ferrari. It doesn’t end there.

The Grove-based team will therefore be confident of their chances having secured the services of Carlos Sainz from 2025. Sainz seeks to make his best efforts and is confident of bringing back the outfit’s long-gone glory days.

The 30-year-old believes his quest for wins and podiums does not end with his departure from Ferrari. He now wants to end his tenure with the Maranello-based team on a high before starting a fresh era with Williams Racing next year.
