Carlos Sainz suffered from a disappointing end to his stint with Ferrari after being replaced by the seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. Despite positive performances and being the latest race winner with Maranello, Sainz was brutally snubbed from the team and had to resort to joining Williams to keep up with his F1 career. As such, the Spaniard now opened up on things that he would do differently if he were in Hamilton’s shoes and had such opportunities in front of him.

Ferrari had great stability in their driver lineup with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Both drivers barely clashed against one another and gave it their all to maximize points for the team. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton‘s debut season has remained highly insignificant, and he has failed to live up to the massive expectations banked on him.

Carlos Sainz still sympathized with Lewis Hamilton as he suffered from an extremely difficult debut season with Ferrari. However, if Sainz were in Hamilton’s shoes, he wouldn’t take so long to join Maranello in Formula 1. The Briton had renewed his contract with Mercedes for two years as he cancelled that for 2025 and joined the Scuderia.

However, Carlos Sainz insisted that he would have joined Ferrari sooner if he were Lewis Hamilton. Sainz pointed out that he had no harsh feelings for the team or anyone involved in the matter. However, if he knew about Hamilton’s move, he too would have joined Maranello earlier and really enjoyed his final season to the fullest with the most historic team in Formula 1.

I would have gone to Ferrari even sooner. I don’t have any misgivings or anything. If it had been him, I would have gone to Ferrari even sooner. I would have had my eye on Ferrari to enjoy the final years of my career.

Lewis Hamilton hopes for ‘unalien’ feeling at Ferrari in 2026

Lewis Hamilton joined Ferrari after serving Mercedes loyally for over 12 years. As such, Hamilton was bound to face difficulties in adjusting to the culture shock after switching teams in the 2025 season. The 40-year-old has already shifted his priority to the 2026 season and emerging as a winning force by then. Moreover, the seven-time champion hopes for a more homely feeling with the Italians in the next year.

Lewis Hamilton laid out his hopes to receive a driving style and atmosphere at Ferrari that wouldn’t be alien to him. The 40-year-old continued that he hoped to return to the feelings that he was used to while sitting in the cockpit of the world’s fastest single seater. Maranello will definitely fire up all their engines and listen closely to the seven-time champion’s feedback and provide him the best car possible.

Hopefully next year it’s not a driving style that’s alien to me. Hopefully can go back a little bit towards what I was used to.

Lewis Hamilton said, as reported by motorsportweek.com

Certainly, the 2025 season would be one to forget for Lewis Hamilton as he has no results to boast about throughout the year. The Azerbaijan GP is up next, and the Baku City Circuit isn’t exactly Hamilton’s strong suit as he will have to work hard to achieve an impressive finish. With just eight races to go, the Briton would definitely be eager to put the entire season behind him and start fresh in 2026.
