Lewis Hamilton seems all prepared to take on the challenge of racing with Ferrari on the grid. The Briton is expected to take the Italian constructor back to their glory days. Carlos Sainz, who was snubbed from Maranello to make way for Hamilton, shared his thoughts on the 40-year-old’s title prospects with the Scuderia.
Lewis Hamilton has been deemed a ‘great asset’ for Ferrari in their championship hopes. The Briton’s formidable pairing with Charles Leclerc will grant great opportunities to the Italian constructor. Carlos Sainz believed that Hamilton’s track record proved that he had a great shot at being competitive with the Reds.
When I judge by results and his background and what he’s achieved, I can only say there’s a very high chance that he’s going to be competitive in Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz told RacingNews365.com
Sainz further insisted that Hamilton’s championship chances with Ferrari depended on multiple variables. However, Maranello was already capable of fighting for the title alongside Leclerc. With the seven-time champion joining, the Spaniard speculated that the title chances would only increase.
There are so many variables that it’s impossible for me to predict. But I can only say when I left, when I left Ferrari, I did feel the team, both Ferrari and Charles, were ready to fight for a world championship. With Lewis joining, those chances can only increase.

Carlos Sainz ‘unaware’ of Lewis Hamilton’s capabilities as a teammate
Carlos Sainz never received the opportunity to partner up with Lewis Hamilton in a team. Due to this, Sainz asserted that he was unaware of the Briton’s capabilities as a teammate. Hamilton’s chances with Maranello depended on how well he coped with Ferrari’s chassis. Regardless, the 30-year-old was confident of Leclerc’s chances with the Scuderia.

I’ve seen Charles [Leclerc], and I know how good Charles is, but I’ve never been teammates with Lewis. The only way you can more or less evaluate a driver purely is when you’re their teammate and you see what they’re capable of doing. But like everything, it will all depend on how well you can adapt to a car.
Carlos Sainz noted
Ferrari’s performance has been improving in recent years with the team contending for the championship in the 2024 season. The Tifosi have banked great hopes on Hamilton to take the team back to title victory after a drought of over 17 years. Hence, time will tell about how the 40-year-old fares at the Scuderia.
