Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz will race in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for the last time this weekend in red overalls. The Spaniard will depart the Maranello-based team after four seasons and move to Williams Racing from 2025 onwards.

Carlos Sainz has been a tireless performer for the Maranello-based team since 2021. He has secured four wins over the span of three years and has developed into a mature driver. The 30-year-old was thereafter rumored to be of interest to many teams, such as Mercedes and Red Bull.

Sainz has since revealed the reason for him not landing a seat at Red Bull for 2025. The Spaniard claims that the Milton-Keynes-based team was in search of a different driver as compared to what he had to offer.

Red Bull had me available for six months, and they didn’t pick me, and I think it’s because I simply don’t fit into the type of driver that they need right now in Red Bull, and I’m completely fine with that.

Carlos Sainz said on the Beyond the Grid podcast

Ferrari is currently in chase of the constructors’ championship this season heading into the final race in Abu Dhabi. Therefore, it will be Sainz’s ambition to give the best efforts for his team before he starts a new era at Williams.
