The F1 driver market has witnessed a lot of action in 2024. Lewis Hamilton triggered a domino effect after announcing his move to Ferrari. However, this left Carlos Sainz without a seat for next season. Despite receiving interest from multiple teams. it seems that Sainz is in no rush to make a decision for the time being.
The Spanish driver secured a surprise podium at the Austrian GP last weekend. Carlos Sainz claimed that there were teams which were trying to pressure him to make a decision on his future. However, Sainz made it clear that he was more focused on enjoying his result at the Red Bull Ring.
So as much as maybe there are some teams that are nervous or pressuring me, it’s time for me also to enjoy this moment of being on a podium.
Carlos Sainz said, as reported by Formu1a.uno
Moreover, Carlos Sainz gave a blunt response to such outfits. The 29-year-old asserted that he will take as much time as he needs before making such an important decision on his future. Sainz claimed that he could do nothing about impatient teams who seem to be having trouble waiting. Williams was rumored to be the most likely destination for the Spaniard a few weeks ago.
And I’m going to be honest and straightforward with the teams. But it’s such an important decision for me also that I’m going to take all the time that I need to take it. And if there’s teams that cannot wait or are a bit impatient, I cannot do anything about it.Carlos Sainz explained
Carlos Sainz to be ‘honest’ with everyone over 2025 move
Sainz became the top driver in the transfer market this year. The Spaniard is the only driver from the top 3 teams to be available. This has made life difficult for other drivers such as Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas, as their fate is connected to the decision made by Carlos Sainz. Moreover, even Alpine has reportedly set its eyes on the 29-year-old for next season.
Carlos Sainz affirmed that he would take the decision on his future by himself. Additionally, the Spanish driver claimed that he would try to be honest with everyone in this regard while giving himself ample time to contemplate. Audi reportedly even made a four-driver list to find an alternative to Sainz if he does not join Sauber next year.
It’s going to be my future, my decision, and I’m going to try and be as honest as possible with everyone and give myself the time that I need.
Carlos Sainz stated
Certainly, Carlos Sainz is still unsure regarding his future team in Formula 1. The Spanish driver has no shortage of options. However, it is inevitable that the 29-year-old will be forced down to the midfield next season. As such, it remains to be seen where Sainz is headed for next year and when does he finally announce his move.
