Carlos Sainz has raced for Scuderia Ferrari since 2021. The Spanish driver established himself as a top driver in the paddock as he matched teammate Charles Leclerc that year. However, Ferrari will replace Sainz with Lewis Hamilton in 2025. As such, the 29-year-old will be forced to go down to the midfield next season with Williams.

Sainz was the top driver in the driver market for 2025 considering his performance at Ferrari. The Spaniard rejected offers from Audi and Alpine to join James Vowles’ Williams. Carlos Sainz has shown faith in the Grove-based team. However, it is clear that racing for Williams will be an uphill task.

Carlos Sainz won the Australian GP this year and once again proved the grid that he remains a capable performer. However, the 29-year-old’s switch to Williams raises concerns among fans who wonder if Sainz could once again emerge victorious in Formula 1.

Carlos Sainz’ Williams move a long term project

Williams is a team still in its rebuilding phase. James Vowles has made major strides within the team since becoming the Team Principal last year. The Briton has high ambitions to take the Grove-based team back to the front of Formula 1.

However, this is a gradual process. Vowles recently admitted that he didn’t care about short term results of Williams. Rather, the team boss focused on long-term goals, something which Carlos Sainz is aware of. It is possible that the Spaniard could find himself with a capable car in 2026.

Moreover, it is rumored that Adrian Newey could join Williams soon. This would be the biggest win for Vowles as it could completely transform the Grove-based team. If the British squad witnesses a return of the aero-genius, Carlos Sainz would undoubtedly be expecting a race-winning car. Perhaps, this could be the reason for him joining the team in the first place.

Certainly, Carlos Sainz hopes to win in F1 again. The Spanish driver has put faith in James Vowles’ leadership. However, it remains to be seen how this partnership pans out in its first season in 2025. Fans would be hoping to see the Grove-based team return back to glory in the coming years.
