Carlos Sainz had to face a disappointing situation in the 2025 season after being ousted from Ferrari. The Spaniard was sacked to make way for seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton in the coming season. Hence, speaking upon Hamilton’s move to Maranello, Carlos Sainz Sr. shared his thoughts and held a neutral stance.

Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari is set to be one of the biggest sporting news stories in Formula 1 history. The team witnessed a massive influx of fans in and around the factory during the Briton’s first visit. As a result, Carlos Sainz Sr. reckoned that Ferrari sacking Carlos Sainz wasn’t the fault of the Scuderia acting wrongly. The seven-time champion’s availability for Maranello was the ‘perfect storm’ being brewed on the grid as the team pounced on the opportunity to poach the 40-year-old.

I wouldn’t describe it as the Scuderia behaving badly. The circumstances of the perfect storm have arisen. Ferrari was happy with Carlos but the possibility appeared because Hamilton himself produced it.

Sainz Sr. asserted that it was Hamilton who approached with the idea to join Ferrari first which ultimately gave rise to the circumstances. However, the 62-year-old reckoned that the process of switching the drivers could have been clearer and more transparent. The Spaniard accepted that the news would’ve leaked which Maranello didn’t want happening.

It is he who approached Ferrari, then the circumstances arose. Perhaps that process could have been clearer, but then it would have been leaked and Ferrari did not want it to be.

They gave him a car, they invited me to drive in Fiorano with a Formula 1 [car]. To have the chance to be there with my son, what Ferrari did for him, and invite me to drive together with him was really fantastic.

Carlos Sainz Sr. noted

Sainz is all set to join Williams in the coming season after testing the chassis on multiple occasions. Meanwhile, after participating in practice sessions, Hamilton has already deemed his grand entry into the team. Hence, the coming season would be extremely interesting due to the massive change in the drivers’ lineup for multiple teams.
