The 2025 season has been nothing short of a massive rollercoaster ride for Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque is yet to achieve his first victory in his first 17 outings. To make matters worse, Ferrari’s performance has been insignificant, even after raking in seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. Now, following a woeful outing at the Singapore GP Qualifying, Leclerc has issued his brutal opinion on the team’s performance so far.

Charles Leclerc headed into the 2025 season with great hopes of a positive outing. Lewis Hamilton was believed to return the team to its lost glory, which could have helped Leclerc improve results as well. However, with the season finale just six races away, Leclerc has picked up only 5 podium finishes and no race wins to his name this year. Even at the Singapore GP Qualifying, the Monegasque could only achieve a P7 start for the main race, right behind his British counterpart in Hamilton.

As such, Charles Leclerc was visibly upset following the Qualifying session and acknowledged that he suffered from a very difficult weekend. Leclerc recalled that the FP1 session was much better, but the team forcibly brought in some upgrades in the subsequent sessions that caused them to lose out on crucial performance. Finally, the Monegasque concluded by claiming that he had not much to say on the matter, but declared that the car was purely undrivable in its current state.

Yes, very difficult. It was a very difficult weekend. FP1 was good, we had a bit of margin, but we were forced to modify something in the car. I don’t know what to say anymore, I’m very sorry, but the car is just undrivable.

Charles Leclerc said in a post-race interview.

Charles Leclerc claims Ferrari has ‘no excuse’ for such woeful results

Even though Charles Leclerc came close to winning the race on multiple occasions this year, the team was just unable to bring home the victory. Lewis Hamilton has also accepted the unexpected issues that he continues to face in performances this year. As such, after losing out in the Qualifying session to the rival teams who were seemingly slower than the Scuderia, Leclerc issued a shocking warning to the Italian squad.

Charles Leclerc, who isn’t looking to exit Ferrari anytime soon, but with a caveat, insisted that there always was a reason behind the team’s woes. However, he reckoned that these excuses weren’t enough, especially when a team like Mercedes that struggled a lot in the heat was able to pull off a pole position performance. Hence, Leclerc pointed out that there were no excuses left to be made by the Scuderia; rather, they just needed to do a better job and bring home good results.

There’s always a reason behind it, but it’s not enough when a team like Merc — who should’ve struggled in the heat, on this track — actually puts it on pole. There’s no excuse. We need to do better.

Charles Leclerc noted.

Ferrari has to cover massive grounds in terms of improvement if it wants a realistic shot at achieving better race finishes than these. Neither Hamilton nor Leclerc is feeling confident in the car and will want a much better turnaround in performance in the coming season. The Italian squad risks losing both drivers if they do not find an out of the problems soon. Hence, the final seven races will be interesting to witness for Maranello as they give it their all to come out of the desperate performance slump.
