Ferrari is currently under massive scrutiny as the team’s chairman, John Elkann, made some controversial comments recently. Elkann suggested that Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton focus on driving more and talking less amid their woeful 2025 pace. Now, Leclerc has opened up on the Chairman’s comments and sees the positivity in it rather than pure malice.

John Elkann did not mince his words while providing a brutal suggestion to Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. Both Ferrari drivers have been unable to perform well in the 2025 season and are suffering from a winless season so far. The Brazil GP was one of the worst weekends as the team suffered from yet another double DNF. This was their third point-less race this year, as they lost the P3 spot to Red Bull as well.

Charles Leclerc isn’t too concerned with John Elkann’s comments and definitely isn’t offended by them. Leclerc reassured that he had known the Italian for a very long time and had a very good relationship with him.

The Monegasque reflected that he had been working alongside Elkann for quite some time now as well. The 27-year-old reckoned that the 49-year-old was very ambitious with the Ferrari project and needed maximum results.

John and I have known each other for many years, so we have a very good relationship and obviously we’ve been working together for many years, We know each other and I know John is a very ambitious person and wants to push every people to the maximum in order to have the maximum results.

Charles Leclerc said, as reported by motorsport.com.

Further, Charles Leclerc expressed that, whichever way John Elkann meant for the comments to be understood, he had no role in them. Leclerc noted that it wasn’t his job to comment on this matter.

Nonetheless, the Monegasque assured the intention behind Elkann’s words was positive and that was all that mattered. Because of this, the 27-year-old was alright with the comments and did not want to take them negatively.

Whichever way it’s been expressed, I cannot really comment and it’s not my job to comment. But the intent was positive and that’s what really matters to me. So that’s why I’m fine with that.

Charles Leclerc affirms he ‘breathes Ferrari’ despite the noise surrounding it

Amid Ferrari and Charles Leclerc’s woeful form, rumours had come up about the driver potentially looking to race for some other team as soon as the 2027 season. Though Leclerc rubbished these claims and highlighted that he had not intentions whatsoever.

Now, following the most recent controversy surrounding the team, the Monegasque has reissued his faith in the team and his ambitions to succeed no matter the circumstances.

Charles Leclerc accepted that one could always do better and perform better. Despite whatever Leclerc faced, he believed that he breathed Formula 1 and Ferrari, and that was his true calling. He insisted that he was a fan of the sport since forever, and would continue to be so.

The 27-year-old asserted that he took criticism in a constructive way and had no hard feelings whatsoever. Ultimately, Ferrari’s golden boy reiterated that John Elkann’s comments were meant in a positive way and nothing more than that.

You can always do more, you can always do better. And in everything I do, of course, I breathe Formula 1, I breathe Ferrari especially, and I’ve been a fan since forever and I always will be, I always take criticism in a constructive way, so there’s no hard feelings whatsoever. And again, the intentions of these words were positive and not negative and we’ll just keep trying to do better.

Charles Leclerc noted.

Despite the massive support from the entire crew and drivers of Ferrari, the team must accept the bitter truth. Maranello is unable to put forth an impressive show and are failing massively in terms of results. The team needs improvements and needs it fast. Hence, it will be elemental for the Italian constructor to return to their winning ways as soon as possible any save their image from being tarnished any further.
