Charles Leclerc did not have the best of outings in the Las Vegas GP qualifying. He managed a fourth-place starting position for tomorrow’s race, and following the event, he accepted that he did not do a good job.

Q3 was extremely tight between the top 10 drivers. Everyone was pushing to the max, and ultimately, it was Mercedes’ George Russell who amassed pole position. Charles Leclerc‘s teammate Carlos Sainz also managed second place ahead of Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.

This weekend I never managed to get the tires up to temperature, whether we did a prep or whatever it didn’t work, after 4/5 laps we were fast, except that we couldn’t do it in qualifying, so I didn’t do a good job on that.

Charles Leclerc said in the post qualifying interview

Looking at the reaction of Leclerc, it is quite clear that Leclerc is extremely frustrated with his outing. The SF-24 has looked fast throughout the ongoing weekend and the Monegasque would now have to make up a few places in the race to secure P1. Moreover, pop icon Drake has also bet a huge sum of money on Leclerc winning the 2024 Las Vegas GP.

Carlos Sainz deems Las Vegas qualifying as ‘trickiest session of the year’

While Leclerc has admitted to not being at his absolute best in qualifying, his teammate Carlos Sainz did an extremely solid job on his end. Moreover, the latter missed out on pole by a very small margin against Russell.

So close! One of the trickiest Saturdays of the year and we did very well. I would’ve preferred to be on pole, but still a good position for the race, and I’m confident we can put on a fight. Maximizing points for the Constructors is key!

The Maranello-based Ferrari Formula 1 team is in with a strong shot at the 2024 Constructors Championship. McLaren is ahead at the moment but the gap is not too big.

Moreover, with the Papaya cars starting behind the Ferrari duo, Leclerc and Sainz have a golden chance tomorrow to close the gap in the championship. All eyes will be on Ferrari in the extremely intense 50-lap Las Vegas Grand Prix.
